Episode 536

TODAY’S READING
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
Colossians 3:12

I picked this first today because I have a confession to make. I cannot stop watching the last kingdom. Many and I have binged the show for the last two weeks. We’re already almost done with Season Four or going into the previous season. And it is really truly an amazing, amazing show. So if you haven’t had the chance to watch it, I would highly recommend it. It is on Netflix. But beyond that, it is. I’m not going to give any spoilers, but it is a story about the Saxons and the Danes and conquering England, and so that are in that story.

There is a curl hotel the main character that God favors those that have kindness in their heart, and that line stuck with me. And I just thought about everybody around me in my life, those who have the same faith as me and those who don’t, and the favor that we have in our lives. And I do believe that she is right. God favors those with kindness in their heart there, and this versus, therefore, as God’s chosen people holy and dearly loved, clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. He is a God that calls us to be kind. And so I just thought, what a perfect way to start the week by putting on the righteousness of God. And by aligning ourselves to be people who are compassionate, kind or humble and gentle, and patient. And so I can challenge you guys in those different areas today. So I’m gonna repeat them again compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Look at those different buckets and see what you know; what can I do better?

Can I be more compassionate when I’m talking to someone at work? Can I extend kindness to a stranger I don’t know at the Starbucks line. Can I show humility to our father as we come to him with prayer and with requests? Can I be gentle with the relationships in my life and my patient when different challenges are thrown my way? Whatever the situation is, whatever category, you need to look a little bit deeper. I pray that God opens your eyes, and I pray that you choose to be His people, His holy and dearly loved, and I pray that we all choose to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Because if there is one thing that is true, he favors those who are kind-hearted. He favors those who have compassion or are kind. He favors his people who are humble, and he favors those who are gentle and patient. So learn from the Lord. Look to Jesus as an example today and ask him for the strength to go on.

Prayer
Father God, we love you. We thank you for this beautiful Monday. We thank you for the week ahead of us. Are we thank you that you call us to be a kind people, Lord. We thank you that you call us to be humble and that you call us to be gentle and patient. These are different attributes that make us strong. Although the world may call those a week because gentleness and patience can be taken as a sign of weakness. Lord, we know in you it’s a sign of strength. So we hold on to our strengths today. We are compassionate; we were kind. We are humbled, gentle, and patient, and so Lord, if there is any area that we need a little bit more help in. We ask that you help us today. We thank you, and we are so excited for the week ahead of us. It is in your holy name that we pray today and every day. Amen.
