Episode 552

TODAY’S READING

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.

Psalm 1:1-3

This time looking at some key points and some illustrations that we can get from these three verses, it says, Blessed is the man, so if we’re going to talk about how we can apply this to our life, we can be this blessed man. It says he walks, not he stands not nor sits. And so, that’s three different things that we can do in a circle of influence. We can walk in step with the circle of influence around us; we can stand even if we’re not walking in step with them, we can still stand with them. And we can sit in their seat. So this is showing you different ways that you can be an active member of this group of influence, or you can be not necessarily physically active, but it says here that we are still not blessed by partaking in such ways. And so we are not to walk in the council wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit at the seat of scoffers. It says by his delight, so as this blessed person, our delight is in the Lord and on the law. We meditate day and night. And so we know that Jesus came to eradicate the law, we have a life of grace, we have a life of faith, based off of grace and not by marriage, not by work, but through grace, we are saved, right? But that does not mean that day in and day out. We do not meditate on His Word and continue to refine ourselves and become more like Jesus. Now we continue; it says he is like a tree planted by streams of water. Now we have a new illustration; we see a tree. This is the illustration of this blessed man; he is planted by streams of water. Now beyond that, it says they yield its fruit in its season. And its leaves do not weather. Two things that we need to take away. One. He has access to water year-round. So we have access to the living water year-round. Every single minute of the day.

We have access to Jesus. He is the living water. He is what we can run to; he is what we learned from; he is who gives us strength, who gives us wisdom, who gives us grace. And so that is our water, right, a tree planted by streams of water. It says that fruit is yielded in its season. How many of us understand that although we have access to the living water day in and day out, night and day, we do not yield fruit every single day. We talked about it yesterday. We said that the harvest is coming; it could be in the future to be five seasons ahead of you. But we still have access to living water today. So even though our fruit only yields in our season, the next verse says it leaves to not weather. So we must take heart. Now we are blessed person because we do not walk in the way of this weekend. We do not stand in the way of sinners; we

do not fit in the seat of scoffers.

We are delighted in our Lord; we meditate on His Word, day and night. We are like a tree that is planted by streams of water. He is that living water, and our leaves will not wither, and our free will come in due time. And it says in all that he does, he prospers. So this is just some Tuesday encouragement that all that you do will prosper in the name of Jesus.

Prayer:

Father God, we thank you, Lord, we thank you for moments in which we can learn more about you, Lord, but moments in which we can learn more about what we need to do to live the best life that you have called us to live. And Lord, it says here that a blessed man, we do not walk in the way of, of the wicked. Of we do not stand in the way of sinners. So Lord, let us look at our circle of influence. Who has the loudest voice in our lives? Lord, if it’s not you, we ask that you make it clear to us, and then we remove that person from their seat, and we put you back on the throne. Beyond that, we understand that we are like a tree planted in your word, your son, the living water that quenches our thirst day in and day out. We are blessed because we get to do life your way. We know that we will not weather; we know that you are our strength, and we also understand the fruit comes in its season. And so today, we work hard because we know that you have a plan for us in the future. We leave it all in your hands, and we ask that you bless us. It is in your holy name that we pray. Amen
