Episode 572
TODAY’S READING
9 If you say, “The LORD is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;
12, they will lift you up in their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life, I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.
Psalms 91:9-16
On vacation last week in Cancun. On day one, I got beat by something, and I have an allergy to some bites most of the time. It results in a huge mosquito bite that lasts a couple of days. But in this case, it really was something I’d never been there before, and my body reacted differently than before. My foot was extremely swollen, and it hurt to walk. I was desperate to find something to help me alleviate not just the pain but to bring down the swelling. And I was borderline Kim Kardashian pregnant on one foot and not the other, and it was pretty scary for a moment because I had never been stung like that. I have never seen a reaction on my foot like that. And we finally went to the little gift store we’ve got one cream, and I came back I put that on, and I didn’t work it was like clay that I covered my foot and the next day the swelling continued to increase, and so I went back to the gift store, and I got a different cream. And this time, I put it on my foot, and when I woke up on day three, the swelling was completely gone. And that that cream is now my lifeline for the rest of the trip, and I would refer to it if I ever needed it again. A couple of days later, sure enough, I got stung again. And this time, I had no worries whatsoever because I knew this cream wouldn’t get the job done. I use that story as an example of what Jesus does in our lives when life knocks us down. And we don’t know how to get up. We are met with Jesus. Either a friend took your church, or you stumbled across this podcast.
Maybe you’ve been in the church all your life. But you never really knew him as your personal Savior. And one day, you come into contact with him, and nothing that will ever return to the way it was because your life has been permanently altered because you met Jesus. He is like the cream in the story where no matter what beasting comes your way in the future. You know what you need to cover yourself with in order to protect yourself and in order to ensure that no harm will ever come to you. This first talks about how the Lord says that he will rescue us. He will protect us because we acknowledge his name. We love him, and because we call on Him, He will answer; he will be there when we are in trouble. He will deliver us, and He will honor us, and with long life, he will satisfy us and show us his salvation. My prayer for today and every day is that we have the proper protection against the enemy when he tries to sing us, when he tries to knock us down when he tries to get the best of us that we know that our secret weapon is it in the form or the shape of a tuba and cream. But it does cover the shape of the Lord.
Prayer:
Father God, we love you, Lord, and we thank you for our relationship with you. We thank you for the day that you met us, Lord. We all have that moment. The moment that we knew you for who you are in our lives. We knew you for who you are in everybody’s life. And that is a personal Savior, a confidant, a best friend, a father, Lord; we thank you for the interactions that we have with you, and more than that, we thank You for Your protection over our lives. Lord, when the enemy comes to bite us to sting us. May we use you as our protection. May you continue to fight our battles for us. We thank you in advance for blessing this beautiful Tuesday, and it is in your holy name that we pray. Amen.
