Episode 578

TODAY’S READING

1 Therefore, if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,

2 then make; my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in Spirit and of one mind.

3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility, value others above yourselves.

Philippians 2:1-3

It is very easy for us to undermine other people. It is very easy for us to get wrapped up in our own personal business that we forget about others, and a lot of the time, we need to vent; we need to talk about what’s going on in our lives. We need our friend to answer the phone, so we can just talk for 30 minutes and just get something off our chest. But we need to also be people who listen more than we speak. We need to be a lending ear rather than a ranting noise for someone else because that person is very significant in the eyes of God as well. We are not the be-all, end-all.

There are other people whose lives are also being affected, and our way of showing humility is by allowing that person the room for them to vent to us. And so today, I hope that today’s devotional inspires you to be a little bit more proactive and listen rather than speak first. Jump on a phone call with a friend or family member, someone you haven’t spoken to in a while, and just ask them how their life is going. Be that voice of reason, be that voice of wisdom, or maybe they don’t need advice. Maybe they need someone to hear them out, and it’s just enough for you to be silent on the other side of the phone for them to have a better day.

Suppose we can do anything today. Let us bless those around us with the ability to be their ears, not something else, to unload more weight on their lives. Everybody walking this planet has a story. And today, let us bless someone else by just listening to there’s so if there was any encouragement like this verse says any comfort from love, any participation from the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same line. So as a community today, let us show love. Let us come together under one Spirit of affection, and let us listen to someone who may need a little bit of love today. Who may need a little bit of wisdom from Christ.

Prayer:

Father God, we thank you, Lord; we thank you for the opportunity to come together as a community and to continue to pray in Your holy name. Lord, we thank you for the blessings of our lives and those that we love most God, as sometimes we get wrapped up in our own lives that we forget to ask those that we love how they’re doing, so God, today we devout our day to just blessing one person, Lord, bring us that one person whether that’s a random phone call, or an impulse in our heart to call someone, Lord, whoever you need us to connect with today, let us do that. Let us be in the lending ear; let us give them wisdom, your wisdom. Let us show them the love that you have for that person. Lord, we thank you for continuing to bless us; it is in your holy name that we pray today and every day. Amen
