Episode 622
TODAY’S READING
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
2 Corinthians 12:9
We do not need to have that need for perfection, that need for control to loom over us and prevent us from walking in the grace of God and all He has for us. So, this first say that my grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness. Let’s hold on to that truth. God works best when we are weak. Why? Because it shows that he is strong. Nothing that we do can compare to what he can do. There are many different examples that we can use that show how God is our strength when were weak. But a lot of it shines in the works that we do daily because it shows us that nothing that we do in this world is done by our works alone. We fall short of perfection. We’re not the smartest in the room.
There’s always going to be someone smarter we’re not the fastest. There’s always going to be someone faster. We’re not the one that works the hardest because the reality is that someone is always going to work harder. And so that is okay because where we fall short, where we are weak, God is strong, and so you might not be the smartest, but you have an amazing career. And that’s because God fills the gap. He blessed you with that job. You might not work the hardest, but you were able to work smart, and that’s because of the wisdom of the Lord, which allowed him to fill the gap and allowed you to walk into the rooms that you’re walking into.
Whatever we are in or whatever season we’re in. God fills the gap, and where we’re weak, he is strong. And so the need for us to be perfect. The need for us to have control, that stronghold that we hold on to. We should let that go. We should let it go. We should give it to God because he’s the only one that can fill the gap. He’s the only one that’s the smartest in the room. He’s the only one. That’s the perfect one in the room.
Prayer:
Father God, thank You, Lord, for this beautiful Tuesday when many of us struggle with the need for perfection. Many of us struggle with the need for control, and so, Lord, today we’re going to turn that stronghold to you; we’re going to break that we no longer need to be perfect. We don’t need to have all of the control. We know that your strength shines when we are weak because you step in and fill in that gap. And our testimony shows how you are a good father; you take care of us. You allow us to Excel because of your grace; you fill in where we fall short. And for that, we recognize that when we have control or when we need to be perfect. We step into a place that only you can feel. And what happens is that there is no glory in that, so Lord, we turn away from those behaviors. We give glory to you. Everything in our life is because of your goodness, not because we have a perfection problem or a need for control. So we surrender that to you. We ask You for strength, and we thank you in advance. We pray this all your son’s holy name, Amen.
