Episode 630

TODAY’S READING

The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.

Proverbs 13:4

To be honest, I don’t know how they rest. I did not look up the information. I’m sure they do. But what I wanted to paint a picture of was that being lazy, being a person with a sloth mentality, and a sloth-like behavior is not the same as someone who is resting. So last week, we talked about being an over worker and the importance of knowing the boundary of when to put work down and when to rest in God’s grace and His presence. We understand that we need to give him praise. We understand that we need to give him worship. Then we need to physically and mentally take a break and replenish and arrest, but at the same time, some of us may be struggling with overworking, and others of us are struggling with the complete opposite, and that is the lack of diligent Ness. So the lack of working hard for something, the lack of taking action behind something. The lack of putting pep in your step is what I like to call it. So as you know, I have many dreams in life. I’ve shared some of them here. If you’ve been with me since the very beginning, you would have seen some of my journey and my career over the last two years. You would know some more personal details. But back in 2021, I started a bakery, and I closed that bakery. Today I am working back in a corporate setting on my nine-to-five, and then I produced this show on my off time, so there is a lot that I do, so I feel like I typically fall under the category of a worker, but I also find myself with lack of ambition sometimes, or lack of vision which kind of gets me into a rut in which I feel lazy, or I don’t know what step to take next. And so the worst thing I can do when I fall into a rut like that is to crave a better life and not do anything about it. And I love that this verse says that it says that the soul the slugger craves and gets nothing. Well, we get nothing because cravings are only cravings. Your craving is only satisfied when you do something about it. And so you cannot be a sloth hanging out on the couch with a craving for a better life without getting up and putting the path behind your step to achieve what you’re looking for.

So today’s question was simple. Do sloths rest? And the answer to that in the physical and natural world is most likely yes, obviously. Yes, they rest; they sleep, but in this spiritual world, sloths don’t rest, not in the spiritual world. We’re not resting in the presence of God. We are hiding from God. We are not resting in faith. We are shivering behind fear. Because the only thing that keeps us from doing something about our cravings is the fear that holds us back. And so, if that’s you today, I talked to you with my whole heart and all of the grace in the world. And I give you all of the confidence that God is with you. He’s standing behind you. He can give you the strength that you need. He can give you the tools that you need. He can give you what you need in order to take the next step and so so whatever you’re doing, whatever cravings you have, you can satisfy those cravings by being a diligent worker, and you will be richly supplied. So go after them. Go after those dreams.

Make God’s dreams come true because he needs you to do them when you fulfill your god dream and your God’s destiny. Then, another person gets closer to Jesus through your testimony. So we have to get up. We have to put the puck behind the step. We have to learn when to rest. And we need to realize that being lazy is not the same as resting.

Prayer:

Father God, we thank You, Lord, for this beautiful series. We thank you for the strongholds that have broken. We thank you for the ability to bring those strongholds before us. So God, if we are people who deal with pride or perfectionism, if we deal with being a victim, if we deal with anxiety, and depression, if we are over workers, if we deal with putting up a wall between those that we love and you guys if we are people who deal with envy, plus if we are people who deal with lying, and if we are people who deal with laziness, or we give it off to you. Help us break these strongholds today so that we can go into the rest of this here following your absolute goodness, understanding that you want absolutely only the best for us, and we can walk in that glory so that now as we get ready for the new year, we can be whole and complete in You. We thank you for absolutely everything. We love you. We pray this all your son’s mighty name, Amen.
