Episode 635
TODAY’S READING
She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.
Proverbs 31:20
This is one of my very favorite chapters really in the Bible. Proverbs chapter 31. A woman who fears the Lord because it talks about a woman of God and everything that she does, and in verse 20, it says as she opens her hand to the poor and reaches her hands to the needy, I figured that this was also fitting for the time of year because it is November we are going to be talking about the things that we should be grateful for. But at the same time, we’ve been so blessed that we can be a blessing to others. So I wanted to encourage everybody to take some time today to either find an organization that you can support this holiday season, whether it’s this Friday, this weekend, maybe it’s next week, maybe it’s closer to Thanksgiving, wherever you can do whether it’s your time your talent or your treasure, men you give back to the community because we are strong women and men of God. And we are people who continue to pour back into our communities because God has blessed us and our households with so much. Now I know that sometimes that might not be a natural thing, or we always think that we’re going to do something, and maybe we keep closing our trunk to give away, and we just never get to the place in which we can donate. May that be different this season. My dad has been at the Miami rescue mission for the last year. He was taken in in January. And so, if you’ve been with me for a while, this comes up sometimes because it’s just the reality of my life. This year. My dad has been in a homeless shelter, battling his addiction and his narcotic addiction, and he is done so well. And it’s because there are organizations that exist to help people.
I say that with a little bit of tears in my eyes because there are good people in the world, and I think it is our job to continue to pour into those organizations so that they can full circle pour into people around us and so I will be giving to the Miami rescue mission this holiday season for everything that they have done in my dad’s life. And I hope that you find an organization that you can do the same we are, again, strong women and men of the Lord, and so our duty is to give back to another person and to give back to organizations that do good. So I will be linking the Miami rescue mission below if you want to partner alongside my morning devotional community in doing so and, and if not, I encourage you to find another organization this holiday season. We are equipping ourselves for the best season yet.
Prayer:
Father God, we love you, Lord, and we thank you for this beautiful Friday. God, This week we have been prepping for the holiday season. On Tuesday, we talked about the importance of having ears to hear; we talked about how we have to continue to use the tools that you’ve given us to live right to slaves.
And on Wednesday, we talked about the importance of connecting with a home church to celebrate the birth of your son for really being in a community with like-minded people. Yesterday we talked about how the seasons may be bringing up some grief in us, maybe some pain for the Lord; you have a plan for us in the waiting you have a plan for us, and in every season, you are constantly working in order to give back for all of the blessings that you have given us today we’re talking about giving back into the hands of our community. So Lord, let us partner with an organization that means a lot to us. May we partner with organizations that help our individual communities. We are a global community. And so everybody under beat the sound of my voice did something good today. Then together, we would plant many, many seeds. I say this with tears in my eyes because I know this is all you, Lord. So I thank you. I love you. We pray for you, and we ask that you continue to bless us; we pray this in the sun’s mighty name. Amen.
