TODAY’S READING

17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

James 1:17

We are in the gifting season. But the year and every single day you’re going to see new people you hadn’t had the chance to see. Or maybe you’re talking to new people, and you know Santa Claus may have come to your home and less than for the kids. And I know that tomorrow I’m gonna see my friend who I need to deliver some more gifts, and long story short, it is a season of gifting. And in all of this time, we should get wrapped up on the actual gifts that we’re getting. And I know there’s a special place for all of that. I had a fantastic time yesterday; as I mentioned, for Christmas this year, I got a coffee maker, and you guys know me as the coffee Ipsos make Baker, so it was a great time, right? It feels good to receive a gift. But the reality is that every perfect gift is from above, and the gifts that we should be focusing on. All of the material is a lot of fun. We really should be focusing on the breath in our lungs and the peace that we felt and the love that we shared and the laughter that we had and the tears that we shed because it means that we feel the emotion we feel in these raw moments in our lives.

Every day we have a gift. And we need to remember that those these kinds of gifts that I’m talking about, every good and perfect gift is from above. God gives us a new day. He gives us a new sunrise, and he gives us a new sunset. He provides us with the breath in our lungs. It gives us the food on our plates. It gives us everything, and so this gifting season. I hope that you guys keep all of that at the forefront of your mind when you are counting your blessings and counting your gifts. And when you go and tell people this year, I got a pair of glasses this year. I got a coffeemaker this year. I got XYZ. I hope you also say this year I was given and this year, I was given a chance to continue to push for my dreams, and this year I was given a financial blessing that allowed me to purchase a home that allowed me to save to go to school. Whatever your situation is, God bless you. He did abundantly because he always does, and so our job is to make sure that we count those gifts because they are perfect. They come from the Father of heavenly lights does not change like shifting shadows.

Prayer:

Father God, we thank you, Lord, for this beautiful Monday. We thank you for all of the good and perfect gifts. We thank you that it is much more than just in my sense, in my case, a coffee maker and the case of the person on the other side of the mic. It’s much more than the shoes they received or the new gift that they have. It is all about life, Lord. It’s about the breath in our lungs and the food on the table. The memories that we share, the laughter, the blessings that come from above, and God, today we count those who thank you for them. We hold them true to our hearts. We put them first on our list of those we’re grateful for. We ask that you continue to bless us this week as we prepare for a new year. It is in your holy name. that we pray today and every day.
