Episode 745
TODAY’S READING
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. 18 A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, you will recognize them by their fruits.
Matthew 7:15-20
We know that God can speak to us through the Spirit that He deposited into us that we read in Acts, and we know it happens today. And then we understand that with our spirit, we are given different gifts of the spirit. Discernment is something the spirit does; it is a convict or gives us discernment. It is our sees that we think that we do not see, and what happens is that we can test the fruit of something. When we are either struggling with an idea or struggling with a person struggling with something, we can test the fruit. Is this a good tree? Is this a bad tree? Does this produce a good harvest? Those are not in the Spirit that God deposited in US, allows us to have those conversations with God and allows us to have those conversations with ourselves as we’re navigating through different things.
And so today, if we ever wanted to know if God gave you the actual desire in your heart, is this a God desire? Or is this a flesh desire? You need to test the fruit by testing the fruit you can hear, and you can decipher if what you are hearing is truly coming from God or if it isn’t, and at that point, you need to find the trees, the people, the dreams that are not producing good fruit those are deceased trees because as we read, a deceased tree cannot produce good fruit. And so we need to find healthy trees in our lives. Healthy is a metaphoric healthy people, healthy dreams, healthy groups, and healthy communities that produce good fruit in our lives. And so LISTEN to the Spirit. That is how he speaks to you. He knows you. He confronts us, convicts you, and he’s going to help you in discernment.
Prayer:
Father God, today’s Good Friday, we honor what you did for us; we honor that you sent your son to die on the cross for us. And so, Jesus, we thank you for the life that you gave for us. We thank you for the sins that you bore for us and Lord; we thank You that You deposited your spirit within us, and that spirit, Lord, it guides us, it convicts us, It comforts us, Lord. And in all of that, we can listen to you; we can hear you speak to us. And some more, we test the fruits in our lives, and we cut down bad trees. May we only produce good harvests, and we will produce righteous harvest. We thank you for everything. We are excited to celebrate the resurrection of your son on Sunday. We give You all the praise and all the glory; it is in your son’s mighty name that we pray. Amen
