Episode 746

TODAY’S READING

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them

Genesis 1:27

7 then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.

Genesis 2:7

What does God have to say when he speaks to us? Well, the truth is that God has a lot to say, and five devotionals this week is not going to be enough communication, as we understand is not just audible words. And we know that people communicate through actions and sign language, body language, etc. And God speaks through His Word, as we said last week, but also through his actions. So on, one of the first things that he ever did was create mankind, and he has a lot to say about us through his actions. Notice how he breathed the breath of life into us; he gave us a gift, and the first thing he did was, give us a gift, and it was the gift of life. Secondly, he didn’t make us in the image of the enemy. He didn’t make us into the image of any of the other wild beasts. That he had created. No, she made us in His image. Now birdly, we understand that he did not want us to be alone. He understood that it was not good for man to be alone. And so he put man to sleep and took a rib from him and made woman made female, and so we understand that we are each other’s helpers. I, female, was created to help the male not underneath but beside, I am Manny’s helper joined together in marriage. And so, what we understand here is that God is kind; he is understanding, and we can therefore be like him, pure and kind and gentle beings. We have roles as males and females; we were assigned and given purpose, and He knows you; He knows like life that He gave you.

He knows your assigned role. He understands the purpose that He gave you in this world. And although we can make it into a million other things, it’s very simple for us to understand that God is a good God. He is one that blesses us; the first thing he did was give us the gift of life. And he is constantly trying to gift us bless us in our lives, and we just have to be open to receiving that from him because he is such a good father. And if your identity is something that you struggle with, God made you in His image; it is the first thing that He has to say about you that you were created on purpose for a purpose, and you were created in His image.

Prayer:

Father God, we thank you for your word, Lord; we thank you for what it says. We thank you for everything. That you are to us. God, we thank you that last week, we talked about the ways you speak to us. This week, we’re going to look about look at the things that you have to say about us. And the first thing that you had to say about us was that we were created in your image. The second thing that you had to say about us is that you gave us the gift of life. You are a gift, or you’re so good, Lord. So we just thank you for the life that we have. We think that we have breath in our lungs today. We thank you for the food in our bellies. Thank you for the roof over our heads. We thank you for the community that you’ve placed us in. Thank you for the relationships that we have, a thank you that in all of the things and all of the ways and all of the messy in between the Monday mornings and the overstimulation of the world, Lord and all of that when we quiet it all out. We can see that you’re right there. You look at us. You call us by name; you know the numbers, the number of hairs on our head. You understand the purpose that you have created us for. And so we thank you for the identity that you’ve given us. We love you; we thank you. We pray this all in your mighty name. Amen.
