You're listening to the my morning Devotional podcast, episode 1021. Today's Devo is called Learning from him. Hey there.

00:00:10.997 --> 00:00:40.618
We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning devotional podcast. Happy Monday, everybody. Gabby Alessi here as your host for the week. And it's good to be back. And I am joined with my sister, Lauren Alesi.

00:00:40.706 --> 00:01:09.293
Hello, everybody. Greet everybody. Ask them how they're doing. How is everybody doing? Good morning. Good morning. Well, this weekend, if you did not know, we celebrated the episode or the devotionals four year birthday. That's crazy. It's four years old. So, Allison, congrats. Your baby's four years old now. Yeah, I think four years old. You go to, like, preschool or maybe, I don't know, preschool, whatever it is, pre k four. Pre K four.

00:01:09.414 --> 00:01:30.664
So very early still. And we're just proud of this whole show. And I will say we have gotten some really good feedback, Loren. We keep talking about it each week, and I'm just so proud of, like, what people are saying about this show and how it's people. It's not just people that are new. It's people that have been the constant listeners. And one of them.

00:01:31.323 --> 00:02:38.798
So this is somebody from California. She said, I'm from Stockton, California. I was hesitant to continue listening when Allison switched over the podcast. However, you guys are so great, and I have enjoyed and been blessed by these devotions. I'm in a season of change and waiting and just feeling lost, really. But these five minutes give me things to ponder and pray about. Thank you. Aw, isn't that sweet? So that's great. That's really cool. So keep responding and messaging us. Cause we'd love to hear from you, but, lolo, you are going to be taking over the Devos this week. Yes. So take us into learning from him, day one. Yes, of course. So I. Last time I did the podcast, I had sort of dedicated the whole week to peace. Like, that was the theme. And I was like, you know, I kind of want to do that again. But, like, what would I talk about? And I was like, you know what? I'm going to talk about humility. Because, again, it's like things you don't hear a lot about, but it's huge in the Bible, and it's huge as a Christian, how we should be walking and talking. So my verse for the day is Philippians two, three. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility, count others more significant than yourselves.

00:02:38.925 --> 00:03:18.141
Wow. I love this verse. I actually love this whole chapter of Philippians, but the way it ends there, consider others more significant than yourselves and do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit. This is Paul talking to the philippian church, exemplifying how you should be as a Christian. And when he's saying, don't be selfish. Don't consider yourself more important than anybody else, I think that's an important reminder to us Christians. And to be honest, I think I just want to read the rest of this chapter more than just give my own input, because I think it just, it's going to set the tone for this week perfectly. So if I could just finish it. This is what it says.

00:03:18.277 --> 00:04:32.517
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Jesus Christ, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself by taking the form of a servant. Being born in the likeness of men and being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore, God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name. So that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. So good. And I just think that if Jesus Christ, of all people, could somehow come to earth as the son of God and humble himself, I think we could do the same. That's so good, Lauren. And I think it's a good lesson for all of us, whatever we're facing, because I think when it comes to putting ourselves before others, that could be in a boastful, we're doing good. My life is great. You're putting yourself before your friends. But that can also come from a victim mindset. Mm hmm. Of, I'm in the dumps, I'm not feeling good about myself, and you're putting your own feelings before other people.

00:04:32.665 --> 00:05:19.148
And so I think this is a great reminder, and it is a great start to our week. So can you close us out in prayer and pray an intentional prayer about humility for this week as we take on what's ahead of us? Yep. Dear God, we thank you so much for a strong start to the week. God, I just pray for every person listening. God, this may be a tough week, a tough topic for them to hear about because, God, honestly, it's so foreign in today's day and age. But God, we just pray that as we pray about humility and we learn about humility in your word, God, just bestow upon us a new grace and a new humility, God, that when we pray before you, when we walk with you, God, make us humble in your eyes. Make us humble in your sight, God, because that's when we receive blessings. Lord, we pray this in your name.

00:05:19.276 --> 00:05:23.036
Amen. So there you have it.

00:05:23.100 --> 00:05:38.029
