00:00:10.997 --> 00:00:33.454
We're the Alessi's, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. 00:00:33.493 --> 00:00:48.805
We're back for a great my morning Devo. I'm your host, Gabby, for the week. Lauren, you have been doing an amazing job. Thank you. Talking about humility, and even in between filming all these episodes, we've just been having more conversations about it. Yeah.

00:00:48.869 --> 00:00:55.840
And it's just been really. It's been a great week of podcasts, and we're right there. To the weekend. It's almost Friday.

00:00:56.031 --> 00:00:58.963
TGI af. I don't know.

00:00:59.944 --> 00:01:11.319
Almost Friday. Oh, I got you. Thank God it worked. And so it's gonna be a good weekend, but we need to finish out this week. So you have. Today's whole episode is called humility rewarded.

00:01:11.352 --> 00:01:33.956
And I think it's cool because we've been talking about the requirement of humility, how we should be humble and before the Lord. And now we're talking about the other side of it, what you receive when you do that. So take us into it. So, the verse for the day is proverbs 22 four. If you have not done, like, a proverb a day study, you need to do that. Just starting this off there. Yes.

00:01:33.980 --> 00:01:41.355
But anyways, proverbs 22 four, the reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.

00:01:41.420 --> 00:01:56.034
Yes. I just love how literal and straightforward this verse is. But also, if you just read any proverb, it's. It's just literal and straightforward, and you could try to dive deeper and see what it's saying. And it's not. It's just straightforward. It's just.

00:01:56.334 --> 00:03:08.623
Yeah, if you're humble and you fear the Lord, riches, honor, and life will come to you. And it's. That's basically what Solomon is saying when he's writing proverbs. And I think what's crazy is when you really think back on people who are humble, this follows them, like, the riches, the honor, and the life. And when you think about people who are prideful, that doesn't follow them. And so I was even thinking about, like, biblical characters who this matches up with. Oh, and also, another proverb proverbs 29 23. One's pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor. Yes. So there's a lot of proverbs that talk about this, how humility is rewarded in life. It doesn't go unnoticed ever. But I was even thinking about people in the Bible who kind of exemplified this. And I thought of Ruth, how she really had nowhere to go in her life, but she followed the spirit of God and her mother in law, and she literally stayed low. She was like, tell me what to do, and I'll do it. And she was like, go do this. And she's like, okay, I'll do it. Go work in the field. Worked in the field. Go lay at his bedside. Okay. She laid at his bedside, and you're reading, and you're like, this is kind of a strange story.

00:03:08.933 --> 00:03:15.806
But to see how she just stayed humble, even though she just lost her husband, she could have cried out to God.

00:03:15.830 --> 00:03:19.021
She could have gone back home. She could have developed a prideful spirit.

00:03:19.198 --> 00:03:22.981
She obeyed her mother in law. She stayed very, very humble.

00:03:23.038 --> 00:03:41.062
She stayed very lowly, not seeking attention. And look how God exalted her in the end. And look how God rewarded her in the end. Not just with the husband, because I think that's where a lot of people get stuck. That's so true. Right. Because they're like, oh, she got her husband. No, she got a husband. She got Boaz.

00:03:41.237 --> 00:05:35.605
But then she had an amazing honor by being in the bloodline of Jesus. Yes. And then also riches because, like, Boaz was a wealthy man. So we are talking about riches, honor, and life. That's so good. And what a life Ruth had. So. And even if you want to get more into it, if you follow David's life, you see when he was humble, how the riches, honor, and life followed his humility. And when he got prideful, he started to lose some of those things. So it's very, very interesting to kind of compare this verse to people in the Bible, even people you may know, people you've heard of. But anyways, just thought it was cool. Well, that's really profound, and I think that's powerful to see. Like, this is what the verse says, this is the proverb, and then this is, it played out in other people's life. Yeah. Because what we're seeing is humility is not doing it in your own strength. Yeah. Pride is doing it in your own strength. When you're walk in humility and operate in humility, then you're operating in God's strength. And God is the one that rewards you when you're operating in your own strength and in pride. And I can do it on my own and I'm a strong independent woman and I don't need all these different things, I can do it on my own. Then you're operating in your strength and hey, there might be some success, there might be some rewards, there might be some honor and there might be some life, but it's not long lasting and it's not going to help you. When we get to the other side of this, of this life, when we get to heaven, it's not going to, you're not going to carry that into the next life. And so I think that is, it's so profound and it reminds me of that Cece Winan song, lowly. Yeah, yeah. And after this, my morning Devo, go to either Spotify, wherever you're listening to this, look up cc winans the song lowly because there's a line in it that says God's got your blessing but you've got to come down to get it. And it's all about the high is for the lowly meaning. The people that are exalted are the ones that have humbled themselves. And the Bible talks about it. God exalts not man.

00:05:35.670 --> 00:06:19.160
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And so I think this is a beautiful verse today. This is a beautiful reminder. If you want your blessing of riches and honor and life, you've got to come down, you've got to humble yourself, you got to get low in order to do so. That's a beautiful, beautiful verse. Lauren, pray us out. Let's pray everybody. Lord, I just pray for everybody listening to this podcast right now. I pray once again just even for everybody in the room as we record. Lord, it's not easy in today's day and age to humble ourselves just in life, but God help us to humble ourselves before you, God. Not so we can be exalted, not so we can obtain riches, honor in life, God, just for the sake of humbling ourselves so we can experience you in your full glory and in your full honor.

00:06:19.192 --> 00:06:37.447
God, we know because you are faithful, you will give us riches, honor and life because that is who you are in your goodness and who your faithfulness. But Lord help us as we walk out this week, as we walk out our lives, God help us to just become low in you and to walk humbly in you Lord. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

00:06:37.536 --> 00:07:01.403
Amen. So there you have it, your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in. Today, we pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
