You're listening to my morning devotional podcast, episode 1046. Today's devote is called Merciful Monday. Hey there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:21.614 --> 00:00:40.409
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning Devotional podcast. Good morning, everybody, and happy Monday. We've made it to another week. And today I'm your host, Rochelle Alessi. And I have my sister in law, Lauren Alessi.

00:00:40.450 --> 00:01:24.640
Hello, everybody. And Lauren always has so much wisdom to share, and from what I saw, this week's theme, I'm really excited to hear. So can you get us started? Yes, for sure. So today's I episode is called Merciful Monday. Just to sort of start off the week, I often find myself doing the weeks and themes. So I was like, mercy would be a great theme. So that's why it's called Merciful Monday. And I. The verse I have for today is deuteronomy 431. And it says, for the Lord, your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them. And this is Moses speaking to the people of Israel.

00:01:24.760 --> 00:01:43.152
And he's speaking on behalf of God, like the word of the Lord that God gave to Moses. And if you've read, you know, any of the. We learned this in our theological class, the PentaTeuch, which is books that Moses read. I feel so smart saying that, but deuteronomy is one of them.

00:01:43.176 --> 00:03:09.394
And he's mentioning how, you know, God and Moses had a very intimate sort of relationship where God would speak directly to Moses and then Moses would speak directly to the israelite people what God had told them. But if you really listen to these words, Moses is telling them, for the Lord, your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them. So I'm just trying to start this Monday off with an encouragement, saying, our God is a God of mercy, and our goddess is a promise keeper. He's a God of covenant. He doesn't break covenant. And we always say he doesn't break his promises. But how about this? He doesn't break his covenants with us, which is a bond. It's a sacred bond. And to be honest with you, I have been totally humbled ever since I did the week of humility, it challenged myself. So now doing this, the week of mercy, I'm like, I know I'm going to be challenged in this. I know it's something just reading about how God is a God of mercy, but how we also have to be merciful to others, it's really humbling me. I'm really learning a lot and just diving into the idea of God being so merciful towards us, it's something. I've been a Christian my whole life. It's still something that really kind of blows my mind. So basically, all in all, God shows us mercy, which means we need to show mercy to others. So I'm excited to sort of keep going with this, this week.

00:03:09.521 --> 00:03:24.289
But that's what I have for today. I love it. And, you know, we always say we encourage you to go read the entire, either chapter or verse, but at this, I would say I encourage you to go read the entire, like, first five books of the Bible.

00:03:24.370 --> 00:04:54.829
Yeah, because when Moses is saying there, God is merciful and he never breaks his covenant. You read like, story after story after story where the people were not great, but God was still great to them because he, from the beginning, promised to bless them. And God never broke that covenant with them. He protected them till the end, even when they were not good. And so we encourage you to do that because, Lauren, this verse holds so much truth and it does change our life, because when we read where it came from, it's like a beautiful thing. So can you pray for us? Yes. Dear Lord, we pray for an amazing Monday full of mercy, God. We pray that as we walk into work, God, as we walk into whatever this day has for us. It's like that song says, Lord, we may not know what the day may hold, but we know who brings the day. God. And we thank you, Lord, that you do hold the day and that you are a God of mercy. Lord, we thank you that you are merciful and you're gracious towards us. But, Lord, ultimately, we pray that you grant us mercy to give to others. Goddess, in Jesus name we pray. Amen. Amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
