You are listening to the my Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1061. Today's Devo is called will greater than World. Hey there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning Devotional podcast. Good morning, everybody, and happy Monday to you all. My name is Lorna Lessie, and I will be your single host for this week. Usually, if you haven't joined us before, me and my sisters and my family, we like to tag team and just sort of break down the verse of the day and just share the word with you guys. We're going to try something different and each take a week and sort of just share on our hearts for ourselves. So, so let us know what you think of trying the single week instead of doing the tag team, because we like to try new things all the time on this podcast. Our verse of the day is first. John 217. So let's read it together. And the world is passing away along with its desires. But whoever does the will of God abides forever. So there's two things that really stick out to me in this verse, and it's about how the world is passing away along with its desires. But when we do the will of God, that is what abides forever. That always sticks out to me. And that's why this episode is called will is greater than world, because it's really easy to get stuck in the world's desires.

00:01:34.700 --> 00:02:58.704
But when we do the will of God, that is what abides forever. But I think it's important that we really dive into, okay, but what is the will of God? Because a lot of people tend to think God's will is sort of uniquely tailored to them. And I've heard a lot of people say this, oh, well, God told me this. Therefore, that is God's will for my life. And you know what? I will say this. I have heard amazing testimonies of God speaking to people, and those testimonies have been confirmed in church members and church leaders and family members and friends, and that was what God spoke over them. But I think the will of God will always point back to his word. If you feel like God spoke something to you, or let me say, even me, if I feel like God spoke something to me, and it's not found anywhere in the word how can I say that that's from God? The truth is, the will of God is to bring God. Glory is to bring disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. The will of God will always be found in his word. And it's to serve his church, to serve him. And ultimately, our lives as christians will always be to glorify him. And again, if you feel like God has spoken something uniquely tailored to you, talk to your church leaders about that.

00:02:58.752 --> 00:04:23.129
Talk to your friends and family about that. Let them confirm that in you, or let them help you tailor that and find that in the word. Because I do think God has spoken unique things to people. I know he's spoken unique things to me. But we have to submit that under Christ. But let's get back to this verse. And the world is passing away along with its desires. But whoever does the will of God abides forever. This is not an easy thing to do. As a Christian. We live in the world 24/7 we are going to get distracted by its desires. I know me, I love fashion. I love clothes. It's so hard to keep my eyes on the prize and not, you know, spend my full budget on clothes that I love. And I know that that's just a small example, but I wonder what that looks like for you. What is a worldly desire that is always taking your attention away from Christ, always taking your attention away from the will of God? Because the truth is, the worldly desires always pass away. And depending on your age, you've seen this. You've seen a worldly desire that everybody thought was a big deal. Within five to ten years, completely be gone. Whether it's Julia Roberts, everybody wanted to be here. And in 510 years, nobody cares about Julia Roberts. So then the worldly desires, they always, always pass away. But you know what abides forever?

00:04:23.290 --> 00:05:18.589
The will of God. So we as christians always must align ourselves to the word of God. I. So that way we can walk in the will of God. Let's pray. God, I thank you so much for your word and how truly it is. Simple, God, we just have a tendency to complicate it, Lord. So, God, I just pray right now, Lord, if there's any complication in my heart or in those listening, God, that we tend to complicate your word, and we tend to complicate your will. God, I pray that you just put an ease in us, God, to really show us your heart and show us your word. Goddess, I pray that you point us in the way God of your word and show us where is your will found God. Where can we walk in the will of God? What does that look like? Practically God. What are our next steps for walking in your will? God? And I pray that you make that abundantly clear, not just to me, God, but for every person listening. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

00:05:19.290 --> 00:05:22.754
So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven.
