How can we recognize God's vision for us and distinguish it from our own desires or plans?

In today's episode, "By Faith,"Lauren dived deep into how Abraham's faith led him to follow God's call without knowing his final destination. This kind of faith is awe-inspiring and reminds us that even in uncertainty, God is leading us toward His promises.

You're listening to the my Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1062. Today's Devo is called by Faith. Hey there. We're the alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:21.725 --> 00:01:08.609
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning Devotional podcast. Good morning and happy Tuesday to everyone listening. Again, I know you're used to hearing two hosts, but let us know what you're thinking about this one host thing. My name is Lorna Lessie. I will be your host for this week. I'm excited to hear my sisters continue on through the rest of the weeks. So let us know what you think about each of us individually taking a week and diving into the word. Speaking of diving into the word, let's dive into today's verse. And today's verse is Hebrews eleven eight. By faith, Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out not knowing where he was going.

00:01:08.909 --> 00:01:52.317
So I don't know about you, when I hear this verse, it sort of blows my mind, because to think that Abraham went out to a place, picked up his stuff, picked up his family, and left to a place where God was calling him, having no idea where he was going, but just completely trusted God, that just sort of blows my mind. And not only did he take himself and his family, but he took the Israelites along with him. And it's just sort of a crazy thought to have, because I think we just look at the end of Abraham's story and we're like, oh, wow, look at how good God was. But we don't really dive into the middle of Abraham's story because Hebrews eleven eight says, and he went out not knowing where he was going. He had an immense amount of pressure on him, but also an immense amount of faith.

00:01:52.493 --> 00:02:56.756
Many times when we face anxiety because we don't know where we're going, and we don't know where our next step is in faith and in our walk with God and our things, we need to think of Abraham, because Abraham didn't know where he was going either. He truly just trusted God. And, you know, today I pray that we have this kind of faith. I pray that we have this sort of Abraham like faith and honestly, Abraham like naivety to where it's like, goddesse, whatever you tell me, I'll pick up my stuff. I'll pick up my family. I'm going to go because you told me, God, and because I have faith and because you've given me a vision, Lord. So I pray that we have this kind of faith today to follow God despite not knowing our next steps, despite not knowing what the end looks like. When we look at the end of Abraham's story, God did fulfill his promise to Abraham. So think about your story right now. What are you going through? What do you need to follow? Just God's next steps over your life. Maybe it is accepting that next job offer. Maybe it is just trusting God for a baby, trusting God in your marriage, whatever it is, just trust God for those next steps. Because guess what?

00:02:56.867 --> 00:04:13.180
Abraham didn't know where he was going either. But God fulfilled his promise in his life. God will be glorified because of your faith. And that is ultimately the goal of our lives, to glorify God. So let's pray. Dear Lord, we thank you so much for the opportunity every day to glorify you, God, through our faith and God, I just pray for every listener right now under the sound of this voice, God, give them faith, Lord, whether they're just struggling in their jobs, struggling in their marriages, struggling with their children, God, struggling in school, whatever it may be. God, I just pray for faith to be elevated right now in the name of Jesus. It's not easy. Just like Abraham didn't know his next steps, Lord, we don't know our next steps, God. So we just pray for wisdom in how to walk out in these next steps, but ultimately, faith. God. Because just like Abraham, we will see the promise fulfilled in our lives. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
