You're listening to the my Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1064. Today's Devo is called a Willing spirit. Hey there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning devotional podcast. Good morning, everybody. I hope whether you're on your way to work, whether you're listening to this while you're cooking breakfast, whatever you are doing, I hope that you are having a wonderful morning. My name is Lauren, and I'll be your host for this week, and I hope that you're also having a wonderful summer time. I know summer is my favorite season of the entire year, so I hope that you are truly able to soak it all up. So let's get into the verse of the day.

00:00:55.594 --> 00:01:14.257
The verse of the day is found in psalm 50 112, and it says this, restore me to the joy of your salvation and uphold me with a willing spirit. So this verse mentions two things that just stands out to me, and it's. It is the joy of your salvation and a willing spirit.

00:01:14.353 --> 00:03:19.701
And I don't know why. This verse just sort of reminds me of when two people just begin in, like, a romantic relationship and they're in the honeymoon phase and how anything they want, it's just yes, and whatever you want, there's no issues and there's no fighting. And as time goes on, you know, conflict begins and normal life begins to creep in. And this sort of reminds me of when we first receive Christ or when we first meet Christ. And it's like, nothing can be wrong. Everything is perfect, and life is full of roses, and nothing in life can go wrong ever, because now we have Christ, and then what starts to happen? Life creeps in. Life goes back to normal, and Christ remains who he is, but we just start to notice, okay, life goes back to normal, and we have to constantly develop that muscle of, okay, I have to put my trust in God. So I really love this verse because it sounds like David is saying, God, restore me to that beginning phase again. Restore me to the joy of your salvation and uphold me with a willing spirit. Uphold me with that spirit, to just do anything, to say yes and no unwillingness to do your will. And I kind of love that this week we're talking about the will of God, but I love that David says, a willingness to do whatever you ask of me. I love that David is saying that. And I have a quick, funny story. I remember one time my mom had told me, you know, Lauren, if you don't do something with joy, it really doesn't matter. You might as well just not do it at all. And I remember just laughing it off and thinking, that doesn't really apply to me. She's just saying that because she's my mom. And then I had gone out of town and I went to another church in another city, and the pastor's wife there said the exact same thing verbatim. She goes, you know, if you're not doing something with joy, you may as well just fully rebel and not do it at all because God wants people with a joyful heart and people with a willing spirit. And I was like, oh, my gosh, you just confirmed exactly what my mom said and it really convicted me in a really, really good way. But I think that's important for us to know as christians that we do need a willing spirit. And I love that.

00:03:19.725 --> 00:03:49.431
That is the cry of David's heart in this psalm. So let this be our prayer for today that we are restored back to have a joy in our salvation with Christ and a willing spirit to do the will of God. Let us pray. God, thank you so much for your salvation. Goddess, remind us of how important our salvation is with you and our relationship is with you and restore us back to those beginning phases. God, that beginning place of when we first met you and when we first received you.

00:03:49.455 --> 00:03:52.975
God, let us be filled with the joy of your salvation. God.

00:03:53.127 --> 00:04:35.401
And Lord, fill us with a willing spirit. God, not a contrite spirit, not a spirit that's just difficult to do things. And when you ask things of us, God, we don't want to do it. No, fill us with the willing spirit that if we have to lead a connect group at our church, God, we're willing to do it. If we have to take our kids to school early in the morning, God, we have to do it. God. And we're willing to do it. God. And whatever you ask of us, whether it's serving in the youth group, whether it's doing a bake off for our kids school, whatever it is, God, that will be a blessing to others and will glorify you, God, give us a willing spirit to do it. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it, your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today.
