You're listening to the my Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1071. Today's Devo is called Finders Keepers. Hey there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:22.326 --> 00:02:33.288
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning Devotional podcast. Good morning, everybody, and thank you for listening to the my morning Devo. I'm your host, Gabby Alessi, for the week. And as you guys can see from the last couple of weeks you've been listening, we have decided to change it up a little bit on our end. Now, you guys are used to. The audience is used to hearing from Alison, and she would get on the podcast, and it would be a one person led podcast. Well, when we took over, it was me and my sisters, and we took it over together, and you'd hear from two people every week. Well, now, like I said, it's new for us, even though you're used to it. We are trying something new where each of us girls are getting here in the podcast, and we are hosting on our own, sharing our heart, sharing our vision, sharing something that has even spoken to us in the last couple of days. So I am up for the week, and I'm excited to get into it. So the verse of the day is this. Proverbs seven one, one through three. My son, keep my words and treasure up my commandments with you. Keep my commandments and live. Keep my teaching as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers, write them on the tablet of your heart. I was reading this verse the other morning, and I couldn't help but notice how many times he's referring to the word keep. I just think it's so unique when someone is writing, you know, when we're talking to somebody, if we're referring or saying the same word over and over again, obviously that word is important. If someone's writing a word over and over again, obviously that should be important to us. And what you're seeing here, when Solomon's writing this, this words of wisdom, he's obviously emphasizing on the word keep because it's important. The things that he is saying, he's saying, keep my words. He's telling you, hold on to the words that I'm saying. The command that I have given you, keep them and you'll live. Keep my teaching.

00:02:33.424 --> 00:02:37.139
So there's three things that he's mentioning. So he says, keep three different times.

00:02:37.520 --> 00:03:03.193
But then he also says, keep my words, keep my commandments, and keep my teaching. And I think that's something that's unique for all of us, and it should stand out to us. When it comes to wisdom, when it comes to reading proverbs, usually the things we don't want to hear is advice from other people. Usually we don't want to hear teaching from somebody else. We want to hear our own advice.

00:03:03.241 --> 00:04:12.939
We want to hear our own opinions. But this is unique that Solomon is saying, I want you to keep the advice that I'm giving you, the commandments, the teaching that I am pouring out to you, keep them. You see, I went to do a Little bit deeper study, and it's not that much of a DIfferent translation, but I went into the word keep, and it says, it's referring to Keeping Watch or to watch over. It even says to keep from, to protect, preserve and observe. And I think what I found here is when it comes to commandments, when it comes to the words of wisdom, when it comes to teaching that we are to guard that teaching, it's not something that you just keep with you and you remember. No, it's something that we should protect. It's something that in our society, or when people give it to us, it's something that we should preserve. We should protect the advice, the teaching, the wisdom that's been given to us. And if he's telling us three times to keep it, obviously it's worth keeping.

00:04:13.800 --> 00:05:23.889
They even say in proverbs, when you find wisdom, the gift of finding wisdom. Well, it's similar to the title of this. Finders keepers. If you found this wisdom which you find here in the book of Proverbs, then let's keep it. Let's continue to search in the book of Proverbs, let's continue to search for wisdom throughout this week. As you're facing this week. If you're hearing good advice from church leaders, keep that advice. If you're reading the book of Proverbs, keep watch over it, protect that wisdom. Don't neglect it. Don't just let it go through one ear and out the other. Keep it, protect it, guard over it, preserve it. And so I hope this encourages you today that we would all find wisdom and keep it. Lord, I thank you for today. I thank you for blessing us on this beautiful, beautiful Monday. Lord, we thank you for giving us wisdom freely. When we ask for it, God, you give it. When we seek for it, God, you always help us find it. And now I just pray that you would give us all the ability to keep wisdom, to keep the wisdom, keep the commandments, and keep the teaching. We bless your name. In Jesus name. Amen.

00:05:24.990 --> 00:05:28.454
So, there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven.
