You're listening to the my Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1076. Today's devotional is called permission to party. Hey there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning devotional podcast. Good morning, everybody. My name is Stephanie, and I am so glad to be hosting our podcast this week. And as you have heard from my sisters, we're starting solo episodes, which I am so excited about. I think this is an exciting new format, but you please let us know if you like this style and format of podcasting. We dove into the double hosting so that we could learn how to be doing these podcasts. But of course, we want to take it even further and do them solo. So let us know. You can comment on our instagram, send us a DM, whatever it is, and let us know if you guys like this format.

00:01:13.159 --> 00:01:31.489
Well, I will be reading from Ecclesiastes 224 today, and it says, a person can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in their own toil. This, too, I see, is from the hand of God. For without him who can eat or find enjoyment.

00:01:31.790 --> 00:02:55.479
And the title of this podcast is called permission to party. Because I'm giving you all the permission to party. I'm giving you the freedom and the permission to enjoy your life. You know, for me personally, my goal this summer was to really slow down and enjoy the simple moments with my family and my friends, because I was just running and gutting all year. And I wanted to enjoy sitting in my backyard, eating charcuterie, going to the beach, being out in the sun, being with my kids. I wanted to enjoy the quiet moments of my life because it goes so fast anyways, I don't want it to pass me by. And what's so special about that is in the Bible. Solomon, who is known as the wisest man who has ever lived, admitted that he has searched through every lifestyle, every route you could take, every place you can go to, everything you can build, everything you can gain. And yet, he discovered that the best thing to do is to just eat and drink and find satisfaction in your own toil, which means enjoy your life and enjoy the fruit of your work. Find what brings you rest and enjoyment, and just do those things. Because again, life, it goes so fast and you need to slow down and take it in.

00:02:55.560 --> 00:03:56.737
But here's the kicker. We need to include Jesus in our enjoyment. True enjoyment is found with Jesus in our life because that scripture says this too, I see, is from the hand of God. For without God, who can eat or find enjoyment. So we can go on all the vacations we want to go on. We can enjoy all the best meals in the world. We could see the beautiful sights, we could go to all the best beaches and the most relaxing spas, whatever it is. But nothing is going to bring enjoyment like a life of enjoyment with Jesus. Jesus is that peaceful aspect. Jesus brings the healing. Jesus brings the unity to your life. And you can't truly rest without the unity and the peace and the true joy Jesus brings into you. So what does that look like? Here are some practical things in those quiet moments, say out loud, thank you, Jesus.

00:03:56.913 --> 00:04:15.156
While you're sitting in your backyard watching your kids run around or sitting in your, your quiet apartment and just enjoying the silence. Say out loud, thank you, Jesus for today. Another thing you could do is actively think and speak out loud about how good life is.

00:04:15.307 --> 00:04:44.834
Talk about how much you love your home, talk about how much you love your job, how happy you are to have a great family, how much you love your friends, think about it and speak about it. And then, of course, be around other christians that know how to enjoy life with Jesus, too, because you want people that are going to stir up that joy and stir up that enjoyment of life along with you. So that's my challenge. Enjoy the small things today and thank Jesus for them.

00:04:44.961 --> 00:05:03.091
All right, guys, let's pray. Dear God, I thank you so much for the life that you've given us. Thank you for our summertime, because in this season we get to really focus on resting and enjoying you. But, God, we can enjoy life truly without you in it. So right now, we pray.

00:05:03.235 --> 00:05:44.245
Enter our day, be a part of our day, give us joy, give us peace, give us unity, and bring us true happiness, even in the small moments of our day. And let us find you in those small moments of peace so that we can truly enjoy and live an incredible life. And in Jesus name we all pray. Amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend, leave a comment or review for us on the app you're using right now.

00:05:44.358 --> 00:05:48.990
Until tomorrow, we pray that your latte is strong, but your love for Jesus is stronger.
