You're listening to the my Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1082. Today's Devo is called Believing is singing. Hey there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning devotional podcast. Good morning, everyone, and happy Tuesday. My name is Lauren Alessi, and we hope you're having a wonderful taco Tuesday. And, you know, I really wish that upon every one of you listening, go out and get some tacos, either for lunch or for dinner, because you deserve that. Pat yourself on the back for being a great person and go enjoy some tacos this Tuesday.

00:00:52.219 --> 00:01:32.498
So let's jump right into the word. And my verse of the day is two corinthians five, seven. Again, I always personally read from the ESV, the english standard version. Second corinthians five, seven says, for we walk by faith, not by sight. And this is a verse we hear a lot and we throw around a lot. And really, when we break it down, it's like, man, this is a crazy verse. Like, this is the foundation of our faith. This is the foundation of our belief. And I called this episode believing is seeing. I think it goes back, actually, to a quote from a Christmas movie. I want to say it's the Santa Claus movie. I don't know which one.

00:01:32.634 --> 00:02:52.810
But a little girl is talking about Santa Claus, and she says, seeing is not believing, believing is seeing. And she's talking about Santa Claus in the North Pole. And whatever clip it was, it was like this person's life just changed when they heard. Seeing is not believing, believing is seeing. It's when you start to believe that your life changes. It's when you start to believe in something that your sight changes, that things around you change. It's so funny, because when it comes to Christmas, movies and Santa Claus, the North Pole, we love that line. And we're like, oh, it's so strong. It's so beautiful. But, man, it's kind of funny, because as Christians, this is the foundation of our faith. We literally walk by faith and not sight every single day. When we choose to believe in a God that we cannot see, we walk by faith, not by sight. When we choose to believe in his promises that we physically cannot hold on to, we're not holding on to promises found in his bible that we can hold on to that. We can touch, that we can feel, that we could see. We just recite them over our brains, over our minds, over our bodies, and we have faith in them that God is going to come through no matter what. And I don't know about you, but I know sometimes I struggle with this because I'm a visual learner. I'm a visual person. I enjoy seeing things. I'm sure if I was a kid in that Santa Claus movie, I'd be like, no, seeing is believing.

00:02:53.310 --> 00:03:27.370
I prefer to see things, and then I can kind of take faith in them. But just as this challenges me today, I hope this challenges you. That our whole christian walk, whether it's believing in God, having faith in his promises, or having faith for a specific calling he's placed on your life, we're never going to see it until that day comes in God's perfect timing. So we have to walk by faith and not by what we see, not by the circumstances we see around us. So I hope this challenges you and equips you today like it does me.

00:03:27.449 --> 00:03:34.889
So let's pray together. Dear Lord, we thank you that your word not only equips us, but also challenges us in some good ways.

00:03:34.930 --> 00:04:26.451
God and I pray that you're helping me through this. God, even as we share this journey together, I pray if there's any listener out there really struggling, Lord, with not being able to see things but still trying to put faith in things, Lord, I pray that you just walk them through that journey, God. And I pray that for every person, even in this room, as we're recording, even under the sound of my voice, God, as I'm saying this, whether they're in their car, whether they're on their way to work, God, I pray that you just add to our faith, God. Just add to it in Jesus name. And we pray for a great week to come. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend, leave a comment or review for us on the app you're using right now.
