You are listening to the my morning Devotional podcast, episode 1083. Today's Devo is called conviction required. Hey there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:21.725 --> 00:00:39.835
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning devotional podcast. Happy Wednesday, everybody. My name is Lorna Lessie. I am your host for the week. I hope you are having a wonderful week so far. You are halfway through the work week.
00:00:39.868 --> 00:00:54.277
You're almost done. You can get through this week. So whether you're on your way to work, on your way to dropping your kids off at school, whatever this day looks like for you, I pray that you will just recognize you're in the middle of your week, and it is almost done.
00:00:54.334 --> 00:01:41.611
And you see the light at the end of the tunnel. Okay? So let's just jump right into the word. The verse of the day is found in HebRews, and it's HebRews eleven one. And we hear this verse a lot, and it says, now, faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. And this is the English standard Version, the ESV Bible. That's the one I like to read from a lot. And I really love this verse because there's two parts to it, right? Faith is the assurance of things hoped for. We're kind of rest assured that these are things that we hope for, whether it's God's promises, whether it's, you know, a house, a new job, a spouse, a baby, whatever that looks like. We're assured that we're hoping for these things, and we are assured that God's going to bring these things into our life. But there's also this conviction of things not seen.
00:01:41.756 --> 00:02:14.837
We're convicted by the fact that we don't see these things in sight, but we're believing in this. And I actually did some research into this verse, and it says that conviction, a better word for it, is really the evidence of things not seen. So we're pretty confident that it's evident we can't see these things, but we have faith that we can hope for these things. And I just am thinking of every person right there who's believing for our house, but right now is a terrible time in the housing market, right? Or people who are believing for an amazing spouse and partner.
00:02:14.973 --> 00:03:10.283
But right now, it's like the worst time to be dating somebody. And we hear all these stats all the time about how dating is the worst it's ever been and people are praying for godly spouses or how you may be looking for a new job opportunity, but maybe there's no new job opportunities opening up. And the truth is, this verse is exactly for you. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction or evidence of things not seen. And the truth is, faith just requires a season where we can't see any opportunities. Because without it, it wouldn't be faith. In order for there to be faith, there has to be the evidence of things not seen. In order for us to really be able to trust in God and for him to be the only one we put our trust in, there has to been that. There has to be that evidence of God. I have nowhere else to turn because there's nothing else around me.
00:03:10.451 --> 00:03:29.086
So I just hope that this makes sense to you today. I hope that this blesses you today. Even in a season where you're like, there's no options for me, there's no opportunities, just a reminder. That's when you turn to God and that's when you put your faith in him. Because faith does require a season of unseen opportunities.
00:03:29.198 --> 00:04:26.620
Without it, it wouldn't be faith. So just like this challenge is me today, I hope it challenges, but also blesses you. Let's pray today. Out of Jesus, we thank you for an amazing day so far. God. An amazing morning, Lord. We pray that this verse just convicts us in a healthy way. God. Even though we may not see things, God. And that can be challenging, we still choose to put our faith in you. Because God, who can make all our promises come true, who can make all our dreams and desires come true? Only you. God, we thank you for that. We give you all the glory and all the honor in advance. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
