We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning Devotional podcast. Good morning, everybody, and happy Wednesday.

00:00:32.853 --> 00:03:18.800
My name is Rochelle Alessi, and I am your host this week. I really hope that you've enjoyed learning a little bit about the attributes of God, because when we learn about who God is, it really just changes our life. And we learned on Monday that God is our provider. Yesterday, we learned about God being just, and today we're going to be talking about God being our helper. And the verse I want to use for that is John 1426. And it says, but the helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. What I love about this verse is that it's actually Jesus speaking. This is Jesus speaking to his disciples and saying that when he goes to heaven, this is what's coming to them, the helper, the Holy Spirit. And it shows that in everyday life we have a helper, which is the Holy Spirit, as a part of who God is. I love that he says that the Holy Spirit will teach us all things, and he will even bring to remembrance all the things that I've said to you. And that is so beautiful, because I imagine the disciples spend so many years with Jesus, learning from Jesus every single day. They would get up and they would do ministry, and they would hear a new sermon from Jesus, and they will experience a new attribute of Jesus, and they will see a new thing in Jesus. And I can't imagine what it was to live a life with Christ in the physical form. It's kind of like when you have a parent and you live every day with them and they're always teaching you something, and they always tell you, remember this, or when this happens, this is what you need to do. And they just teach you and instruct you, and they help you. And it's because they want to make sure that when they're not there, you're taken care of and you're confident and you know what to do. Jesus was telling the disciples that, and now imagine all the things that the disciples learned with Jesus at that time. He was telling them, the Holy Spirit will bring all these things back into your memory when you need them. And he will continue to teach you. He will continue to show you what you need to do, where you need to go. Because when Jesus went back to heaven, it was on the disciples now to spread the gospel of Jesus everywhere they went. And as christians listening, this is our job. Our job is to spread the gospel of Jesus everywhere we go. No matter who we are, no matter what our profession is, our main thing will forever be sharing Jesus.

00:03:19.099 --> 00:03:33.719
And sometimes that could be so intimidating because we don't feel like we're good at speaking or that's just not our gifting. But in everything we do, even our actions, without saying much, we're sharing Jesus.

00:03:34.020 --> 00:04:51.160
And this verse just encourages us to say, God is my helper. In due time, when I need to act, when I need to do something, I will remember his words. I will remember the Holy Spirit will bring into my mind the Bible verses, the things that I've studied, because that's why it's so important that we wake up every day and we open up the Bible and we open up his word and we learn about him and we learn what he says, because we will need all those things. And when we need that verse, the Holy Spirit will bring it back to us and he would help us just be the person and the experience that we need at that moment. And so as christians, we should walk confidently. Just like when your parents teach you something for the future and you're standing there and you say, oh, my dad told me this would happen and this is what I need to do. And I know exactly what I need to do because my dad told me. It's the same thing with the Bible. When you are in certain places and circumstances as a Christian, you know what the Bible says because God is your helper. So in those moments, you stand confident, knowing exactly what you need to do, exactly what you need to say, because you know what Jesus and the Holy Spirit has told you. And so let's pray today.

00:04:51.319 --> 00:04:58.827
Dear Father God, we just want to thank you because we have the best helper in the world, Father, and that is the Holy Spirit.

00:04:58.963 --> 00:05:25.334
We just thank you for the sacrifice, Father, that you came to this earth and you died. So we could have the Holy Spirit, so we could all operate, every single person listening in this moment, wherever we are spreading the world we all have right now, in the same moment, the help of the Holy Spirit in every single situation. So we call in your name, and we say, Holy Spirit, we want you today.

00:05:25.502 --> 00:05:43.398
We want you to help us get through the day. But not just get through it, but have a great day, Father, because we know what your word says. So we just thank you once again. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today.
