You're listening to my morning devotional podcast, episode 1121. Today's Sivo is called forgiveness. Hey there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:20.893 --> 00:00:39.642
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning Devotional podcast. Good morning, everybody. Happy Monday and welcome to another week of my morning devotional. I am Rachelle Alessi and I get the privilege of being with you this week.

00:00:39.746 --> 00:00:51.218
Before we get started, I want to thank all of you for staying in that last. A few weeks ago, I did something a little bit different where we read an entire psalm throughout the entire week.

00:00:51.353 --> 00:00:58.109
And I just want to say thank you guys for staying so invested. Thank you so much for your feedback.

00:00:58.530 --> 00:01:09.634
I was blown away and I'm just really grateful that you guys would be open to trying something new and going along for the ride. So thank you so much and I'm really glad you enjoyed it.

00:01:09.802 --> 00:01:50.227
This week we're going to be talking about relationships. And to start it off, I wanted to talk about forgiveness because forgiveness is such a great theme to talk about when it comes to our relationships. And in Ephesians 432 says, be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. The reason why I wanted to start with this is because sometimes in our lives we build these walls or we build these things that kind of keep us from going either deeper or having better relationships with people.

00:01:50.394 --> 00:02:34.780
And what happens is that sometimes that is unforgiveness. We don't realize that in the back of our mind, when you think of somebody, there's something that's making you mad, or you still remember what that person said to you a few years ago, or you still remember what that person said about you or what they did to you a few years ago. And even though you think you're fine, you still remember it. And when you're around them, that still makes you mad. And you even realize that because of that experience now you have these ways of viewing other people. And maybe it's even kept you from going deeper with other people because you feel like they're going to treat you and say the same things to you.

00:02:34.939 --> 00:04:40.437
And when that happens, it might be an area of our lives where we just have forgiveness. We have not forgiven somebody for what they've said, for what they did to us. And we don't realize that that unforgiveness is keeping us from experiencing the fullness of the relationships that we currently have. And so this verse says, be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Sometimes it's so hard for us to think of forgiveness because that person really hurt us. But this verse says that Christ forgave us and we know our mistakes. We know the areas of our lives where we have not been good. And if God forgave us, that means that we have it in us, guys, to forgive, to move on and not forgive like the world says, where the world says, well, I'll forgive, but I won't forget. I'll forgive, but I won't forget what they said to me or what they did to me. And that's not Christ. Like Christ says, to be kind, tender hearted and to forgive one another. And so I encourage you today that the walls that you might have in your relationships, they might be from unforgiveness, forgive. Today you are strong enough to forgive. And forgiving is not always going to be emotion. You might not feel like you forgave, but that's a decision that you have to make every day to say, no, I did forgive them, and I won't let that keep me from enjoying the fullness of the relationships that I currently have. There might be people around you that have been waiting to embrace you, to go deeper with you, to do life with you, and you might not fully embrace that yet because of the hurt, hurt of the past. So I encourage you today, don't let the hurt of the past keep you from the blessings that God has for you today. And just forgive.

00:04:40.574 --> 00:05:02.791
When you forgive, you get to live in a life now of peace and of freedom. You're going to see that when you let go of something now, that's a weight that you don't carry anymore. When you forgive, that's a weight that you do nothing carry anymore. And you let it go and you get to experience something better.

00:05:02.896 --> 00:05:58.644
So let's pray today. Father God, we just first want to thank you because you forgave us first. The work of the cross, Father, is here to show us that you forgave us. So we thank you for that sacrifice. And because of that, we also get to operate in forgiveness today. So I pray right now that you illuminate to every listener areas of their life where there might be some unforgiveness. And that, Father, you empower them to say that they are capable of forgiving, so they're able to embrace the relationships that they currently have, and they're able to experience that fullness that you have for them through relationship. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
