Step Up

Step Up

What does it look like to truly step into your God-given authority, even when life feels overwhelming? In today’s episode, host Stephanie Muiña invite us to explore what it means to “step up” and walk boldly in our identity as children of God. Through honest stories and reflections on John 16:33, we’ll learn the importance of not shrinking back in fear or doubt when challenges come, but instead finding peace and confidence in Christ’s victory. Along the way, we’ll discover how daily devotionals aren’t just about routine—they’re about preparing us to act courageously and faithfully in every season.

Gather with us for these few minutes of encouragement, and let’s join together in prayer and devotion, supporting one another as we step forward in faith.

You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1385. Today's Devo is called Step Up.

00:00:08.400 --> 00:00:30.530
Hey there. We're the Alessi's a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Happy Friday.

00:00:30.609 --> 00:00:34.130
We made it to the weekend. Made it to the weekend.

00:00:34.369 --> 00:00:46.049
And we're gonna have a good weekend at that, right? Amen. Hala, let's go Friday, let's end the week strong. And I'm gonna actually dive into something very strong for you all today. So buckle up.

00:00:46.530 --> 00:00:50.130
Open your ears if I get a little too strong. I'm sorry.

00:00:50.450 --> 00:00:54.240
It's only because I love you and because I see the what's best for you.

00:00:54.799 --> 00:00:57.359
So let's dive into this Step up

00:00:58.079 --> 00:01:16.719
33 in the ESV version. I have said these things to you that in me you may have peace, in the world you will have tribulation. But take heart, I have overcome the world.

00:01:16.879 --> 00:01:39.500
Amen. What a powerful verse. Well, I once had a friend who was very fun. She was really chill. She was an athlete. She was like the girl that did volleyball and soccer and all the sports and whatever. And we knew each other for a very long time. So I knew a lot about her. I known her private life, I knew her public life. She was a good friend of mine.

00:01:39.900 --> 00:02:11.129
And one time we were at a wedding and she wasn't dancing at all until a song came on. And suddenly she went out into the dance floor and started dancing. And that's when I discovered for the first time after years of being friends with her, that she was an incredible dancer. And I was a little upset because that's something that you should know about your friends, you know what I mean? And when she came back to me, I told her, how have you never danced before? I didn't know that you were that good.

00:02:11.849 --> 00:02:18.409
And it turns out that this girl took a ton of dance classes, but she just gets too nervous to dance in front of everyone.

00:02:19.610 --> 00:03:00.169
And I was very upset at her because she was amazing. And she spent all that time at dance classes never to actually use the skills that she developed. And it made me wonder what all of those dance classes were for. Why would you spend all that time and all that money on classes if you never actually danced when it mattered. I mean, 24 karat magic is on. The DJ. The DJ just put a Bruno Mars song on. You have to dance. I Got A Feeling by the Black Eyed Peas is on. You're going to tell me you're going to just sit there? Come on. No, you got to dance when Bruno Mars is on anyways. Just being silly.

00:03:00.169 --> 00:03:07.370
Just trying to make you laugh on this Friday. But she held back her skills, all. Because she got a little nervous.

00:03:08.199 --> 00:03:15.159
And you know, it reminded me of you and I. We read our Bible every day. We pray every single morning.

00:03:15.719 --> 00:03:48.189
We're close to God. But sometimes when life gets a little too tough or something comes our way, sometimes our first instinct is to retreat and get fearful. And instead of going to God, we pull out ChatGPT or Google. We only talk to our friends and vent about it to our friends about our problems. And we forget to talk to Jesus about it. I just think about my friend's dance teacher. How would her teacher feel that after months of teaching her how to dance, she doesn't even get on a dance floor at a wedding?

00:03:49.150 --> 00:04:02.830
Which makes me think about this. How would God feel if after years of speaking to us, being with us, comforting us, and revealing scripture to us, we retreated the moment we were met with a trial?

00:04:04.009 --> 00:04:07.770
The Bible says in the world you will have tribulation.

00:04:08.330 --> 00:04:27.529
But take heart. I have overcome the world. Just like you go to dance classes. So you can dance at a wedding, you read your Bible and pray every. Day so you can walk in your authority. When the tribulation comes, I'm gonna say this truth and like I said, buckle up.

00:04:27.769 --> 00:06:11.339
But I would rather someone pray for five minutes a day, but they know their authority in Christ over someone who prays hours and hours and yet doubts God the moment something bad happens? Disclaimer I understand that there are times for us to pray for hours and hours in a day, those seasons come. I'm not saying that that is useless. There are times for deep, heavy prayer. But today is the day, guys, that you recognize your authority in Christ. In Jesus, we have peace because he. Has overcome the world. So step into that truth. Read your Bible in the morning. Pray to him in the mornings. But then step into your identity as a child of God and act like it throughout your day. You're going to run into hard times. You will have confusing seasons. Sicknesses will come, financial problems will come. But this is what we stand on. Jesus has overcome the world. We were never promised an easy life, but we are promised to have peace through it all. So don't retreat, don't grow fearful, do. Not allow doubt to seep in your mind, not even for a second. Because you are a child of God. And your Savior has overcome the world. Have that authority and step out into the world, declaring peace and speaking the name of Jesus wherever you go. And see how a faith will come over you like you've never had it before. Watch a peace come over your mind like you've never had before. All because you finally decided to step up as a child of God and to walk out your authority in Jesus Christ.

00:06:11.819 --> 00:07:07.120
Let's pray. God, I just pray for everybody listening to the sound of my voice today that if they've been trying to dig and strive for for your peace Father, for your joy, for your authority, that today is the day that they will finally feel it. That they will no longer just be the second string Christian, but that they will step up into this game of life and walk out their identity and authority in Jesus Christ. They won't shrink in fear, they won't cower in doubt, but that they will rise up in faith and that they will speak over, over their life the name of Jesus. That they will speak hope, they will speak life, they will speak victory. That they will be more than an overcomer, but they will be a conqueror in Christ Jesus. And that everywhere they turn their perspective will change, their words will change. That they will become that optimistic, faith filled friend that they've always wanted to become.

00:07:07.519 --> 00:07:15.079
But it will start today. In the name of Jesus and in Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it.

00:07:15.079 --> 00:07:30.000
