You are listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1133. Today's Devo is called A Plan for Praise. Hey there. We're the Alesses, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Well, happy Wednesday, everybody. Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, buenos dias, buenos noches, buenos tartes. I tried my best to all of you Spanish speakers, forgive me if that was bad, but my name is Gabby and I am your host for the week. And it's just been such a blessing as we've been reading about praise and thanksgiving and thinking on the good things and whatever today's result was, as a nation, as a world, we're going to give God some praise today. Amen. And so, whatever you're doing today, let's look at a plan for praise. What is the plan for praise? How do we praise God? Well, I think in First Chronicles 16. It's First Chronicles 16. We're going to read a few verses here, but this is David laying out how his people and how the nation of Israel should praise God.

00:01:24.581 --> 00:01:31.468
And so we're going to pick it up in verse seven. And so read along with me if you have your Bible open or if you're driving, just listen here.

00:01:31.516 --> 00:01:38.037
But I'm going to point out a few key verses that I think is a really good plan for us on how we should praise God.

00:01:38.221 --> 00:02:07.655
Verse 7 says this. That day David first appointed Asaph and his associates to give praise to the Lord in this manner. So we're focusing on that idea, right? David appoints Asaph and his associates to give praise to the God. To God in a specific manner. Verse 8. Give praise to the Lord. Proclaim his name. Make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him. Sing praise to him.

00:02:07.775 --> 00:02:21.995
Tell of all his wonderful acts. If you are reading with me, go ahead and just put a star next to that verse. Tell of all of his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name. Let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.

00:02:22.335 --> 00:02:25.782
Look to the Lord and his strength. Seek his face.

00:02:25.919 --> 00:03:21.338
Always remember the wonders he has done, his miracles and the judgments he pronounced. You, his servants, the descendants of Israel, his chosen ones, the children of Jacob. He is the Lord, our God, and his judgments are in all the earth. He remembers his Covenant forever the promise he made for a thousand generations. Now, I want to jump over to. I'm going to come over here. What you see afterwards, he's basically talking about the promise that he made to Abraham and to Isaac and Jacob. So he actually goes back through the history here, and David's acknowledging what God has done for a thousand generations. But then we pick it up here in verse 23. Sing to the Lord, all the earth. Proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations. His marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise. He is to be feared above all gods.

00:03:21.467 --> 00:03:43.443
For all the gods of the nations are idols. But the Lord made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before Him. Strength and joy are in his dwelling place. What we see here that there are a few things here that I pointed out that are a good plan of how to praise God. Number one, being what I mentioned earlier. Sing to him. Sing praise to Him.

00:03:43.579 --> 00:04:35.127
Tell of his wonderful acts. When we praise and acknowledge his name, we need to start telling people and telling God about the good things that he's done, whether it's the good things he did in the Bible or it's the good things he's done in our life. Whatever is wonderful that he's done in your life, tell people about it. It goes on in verse 12. Remember the wonders he has done. It says it again, but then it mentions the miracles, the judgments that he's pronounced. And I love this because it's saying to us, as believers, remind people around you and yourself of what God has done for you. One way we praise God is by remembering and reminding and telling people about what he has done for us. I can tell you this right now. If I love a restaurant, I'm telling everybody about it. If I love a new song that came out, I am telling everybody about it.

00:04:35.190 --> 00:04:38.511
Y'all love this show so much. You're telling all your friends. We just know it.

00:04:38.622 --> 00:04:53.154
Well, the same thing with God. A way that we praise him is by telling people about what he has done for us. And remember that he has made promises not just for our generation, but for thousands of generations.

00:04:53.615 --> 00:04:56.795
And I love this point. Really quickly, I'm just going to add this here.

00:04:57.254 --> 00:05:51.759
I love this little part in verse 26 where it says, all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. Because I just feel like it was such. It was almost like a little burn, like a dis of like, yeah, your idols. Yeah, they're gods of the nations. Yeah, they could be gods. You can worship them. But my God, he made the heavens. He made the earth. And that's something we should praise God about. So that's our plan. We acknowledge who he is now. We're going to tell him about his wonderful acts. We're going to tell people about his wonderful acts. And then lastly, all the way at the end of chapter 16, in verse 36, it says this. Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Then all the people said amen and praise the Lord, the end of our planet. For praise is to say amen, which means let it be done and praise the Lord.

00:05:51.887 --> 00:05:58.915
God, we praise you today. We acknowledge your name. We acknowledge who you are, and we thank you for who you are.

00:05:59.254 --> 00:06:35.889
God. Even right now, I pray that you would start to remind us of the wonderful acts, the wonderful deeds, the wonders that you have done in us. God, you have performed miracles in our lives, God, you have brought the prodigal son home. You have healed our bodies, Lord. You have healed us from addictions and depression and oppression, Lord. You've delivered us from things, God, in our past. And you have broken chains off of us. And for that we give you praise. We acknowledge your name. You did works, God. You did mighty works in our generations and for thousands of generations that came before and after us.

00:06:36.016 --> 00:06:54.850
And for that we say amen and praise the Lord in Jesus name. Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend.
