A Tried Foundation

A Tried Foundation

How can you apply the concept of a strong spiritual foundation in your daily life?

In today’s devotional, titled "A Tried Foundation," our original host and founding member, Alison DelaMota, takes us through 2nd Samuel, chapter 22, verse 31. She  shares a personal anecdote about the importance of foundations—whether it's in our spiritual lives or even as simple as a nail appointment gone wrong. Together, we're reminded that God's word is our flawless foundation and shield, offering protection and guidance in all seasons of life

You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1178. Today's Devo is called A Tried Foundation. Hey there. We're the Alessi's, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning everybody. Happy Wednesday. Welcome back to another episode of the My Morning Devotional Podcast. My name is Allison and I am so excited to be here with you guys. Last week and this week, if you are new to the show, and when I say new, I mean like within the last year, you may not recognize my voice.

00:00:47.399 --> 00:01:28.635
I am the original founding member of My Morning Devo and last year I handed it off to the Alessi sisters. And for the ones that have been with us since day one, welcome back. Or welcome me back. I guess that's how I would say it. Well, today we're going to be in 2nd Samuel, chapter 22, verse 31. And it says, as for God, his way is perfect. The Lord's word is flawless. He shields all who takes refuge in him. And I label today's devil a tried foundation. After the idea of when something is tried and tested, right, his word has been tried and tested. It is a good foundation.

00:01:28.748 --> 00:02:20.532
And yesterday we talked about the plans that we plan and how God may extend the timeline. Maybe he shortens it, maybe he prolongs it, but he wants us to plan. He wants us to have vision. He wants us to have goals in mind. We talked about goals. We talked about the harvest that we're walking in. We are really trying to tackle this new year, this new season, so that we're prepared for the year ahead. But we cannot be prepared. We cannot start planning, we cannot start dreaming, we cannot start working towards our bodies on our health. We cannot start anything if we don't have a true and tried foundation to live our life off of. And we know because we're all like minded. We all come onto the show to listen to scripture. We know that the word of God is our foundation. It truly is. Without it, we fail. This week I got my nails done. I posted about my nails.

00:02:20.596 --> 00:02:35.060
I loved my nails and then they all started to fall off. This has never happened. I have a press nails and so they just popped off. And I texted my nail artist and she's very pregnant and I'm Very pregnant. And she's like, my God.

00:02:35.139 --> 00:02:56.717
Both of our pregnant brains, no one caught it. She glued the wrong glue on my nail. So there wasn't a good foundation of glue with. We didn't have a strong foundation. And by the end of the night, after I spent the money, we all know what nails cost these days, they were all gone. So now she has to squeeze me in at nine in the morning to put the right glue, to put those a presses back on.

00:02:56.854 --> 00:03:18.777
And I say this as a girly way of just reminding us that without the right glue, our nails pop off. And in the same way, without the right foundation, our life kind of derails and pops off. So the foundation that we lean on is the Word of God. The foundation we need in our lives is the Word of God.

00:03:18.873 --> 00:04:28.944
And in this verse, what I love about it, it says that the Lord's Word is flawless. He shields all who takes refuge in him. That vision, that picture of a shield, we all get behind it, and God is that shield. He protects us from the enemy. He protects us from worldly things. He protects us from attacks. And we may walk through seasons that are hard. It happens to all of us. We don't have control over what happens, but it doesn't mean that we're not protected in it. It doesn't mean that he's not there with us. It doesn't mean that he's not making sure that when the car swerves in our lane, that somehow the angels stopped it from hitting you. That happens all the time. God is always there. He's always protecting us. He's always watching over us. He's. He is our shield. And you guys do a great job every morning by tuning in because that is the first step. So if this year your resolution is to get closer to God, His Word is your foundation. His Word is your shield. He is the shield that protects you in your life. So just hold on to that. Hold on to that promise that we can't really do our plans. We can't really live out our lives. We will derail if we don't have a strong foundation.

00:04:29.072 --> 00:05:41.170
And you get that here with our community. Community. You get that here with worship music, in the car, anything like that. But the reality is that you also need to carve five minutes a day to go home, open your Bible and read so that this year you get to know him on a deeper and more personal level. So we just. I leave that with you. I hope that you take that and that you apply it for the year ahead of you. So the prayer for today, Father God, we thank you, Lord, that today is a new day. We thank you that your foundation is a strong foundation. We thank you that like the glue under my nails, you are the foundation of our lives. That your word is our foundation, that you are the shield that protects us, and that you continue to give us grace when we mess up. You give us mercies every morning and you continue to walk us in the right direction so that we can plan, so that we can have vision, so that we know that we're heading in the right direction, so that we know that at the end of it all, we're going to bear good fruit. So we thank you and we love you and we pray this in your son's mighty name today and every day. Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in Today.
