You're listening to the my morning Devotional podcast, episode 1092. Today's Devo is called all at the Altar. Hey there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:21.934 --> 00:01:12.971
That's why we partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning Devotional podcast. Well, good morning, happy Tuesday. Or good afternoon. If you're listening to this, maybe in the evening before you're going to bed or whatever time of day. I hope you guys are enjoying your Tuesday so far. It's an amazing day because if it's Tuesday, that means it's taco Tuesday, which means we're going to eat tacos today, which is my favorite food of all time. Today's Devo. I wanted to mention, there's this new song that has been just stirring in my spirit. I've been listening to it over and over again, and it came out a couple weeks ago by elevation rhythm, and it's called at the altar. I don't know if you've had the chance to listen to it. I'd encourage you to listen to it because the whole idea is, there's no time wasted.
00:01:13.156 --> 00:01:24.378
We don't waste any of our time or our life when we go to the altar. When we come to the altar, when we. We fall on our knees at the altar of Jesus and I, we come before him.
00:01:24.554 --> 00:01:35.626
And I just get this picture personally. You know, here at our church, we have a lot of moments before or mainly after service where we'll have an altar moment, or what you call an altar call.
00:01:35.778 --> 00:01:54.170
And people come down from their seats and it's maybe right below or right at the bottom of the stage, people will come and have a moment of prayer. Every Sunday at our church, we have a prayer moment where people come down to the altar and they make their requests known to God, to our prayer partners at our church, or at the end of the.
00:01:54.209 --> 00:02:01.561
The message, we'll ask people to come on down to the altar. If, you know, whatever the prayer is, whatever the theme is that day, and whatever the.
00:02:01.626 --> 00:02:08.866
The leading of our pastor is, we'll have what we call an altar call. And so, as I've been listening to this song, I just.
00:02:08.937 --> 00:02:19.846
I can't help but think of all those moments that I personally have gone to the altar and I've gotten on my knees and I've surrendered things to Jesus. And I've had a moment with him.
00:02:20.038 --> 00:03:04.439
And really what the altar signifies is us getting at the feet of Jesus and just having a moment. And when we get on our knees, it's a symbol of being in full surrender, acknowledging him as the Lord of our life and spending time with him, spending time in his presence. And I think it's so beautiful. This song just takes me into that moment and reminds me of, we don't waste any of our time. There is nothing wasted at the feet of Jesus at the altar. And then it goes on to say in the song that he can use anything, that whatever it is we are leaving at the altar, whatever it is in us that we take to the feet of Jesus, jesus can use anything. He can use our broken dreams. He can use our broken heart.
00:03:05.099 --> 00:03:08.909
He can use even our sinful lives when we are made new.
00:03:08.949 --> 00:04:39.545
He can use that. He can take the broken pieces of our lives, put them back together, and use us for good. And all of this reminded me of the verse in Matthew 1128 that says, come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. I just. It's just a beautiful picture for me. And wherever you're listening today, I hope you can envision this, of us coming to Jesus. We're weary. We might be burdened, we might be struggling. We might be at the end of our rope, but there's nothing wasted. We don't waste any part of our lives. We don't waste our time. When we go to Jesus, we get on our knees, we surrender to him, knowing that he will give us the rest that we need, and he can use anything. So today, I hope this blessed you. I hope this community of ours, that we get together every single morning. I hope we never forget the beauty of coming to Jesus, whether we're weary or not, coming to the feet of Jesus, going to the altar and spending time with him. Remember, these Devos, they're just the beginning of our time with Jesus. They're just what should spark and encourage our time with the Lord. But ultimately, after these Devos, it should open up a moment for us to speak with him, to have a relationship with him, to have a conversation with him, to make our requests known to him. So today, I just want to encourage you. Go to Jesus. Go to the altar.
00:04:39.697 --> 00:04:47.514
Nothing is wasted. When you go to the altar, Jesus will use it all, and he will give you rest.
00:04:47.682 --> 00:05:13.244
Lord, we just thank you. We thank you that you're a personal God. We thank you that you are our father first, that we can go to you when we need rest, that we can go to you and make our requests known to you. And so I just pray that all of us, this family of my morning, Devo, God, we would all come to you today, wherever we are. We would meet you at the altar, and we would find rest in you.
00:05:13.372 --> 00:05:37.670
We thank you for it. In Jesus name, amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today.
