You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1196. Today's Devo is called Apart from Him. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Well, it is good to be back. Happy Monday everybody. This is Gabby Alessi, your host for the week and Alan and I were just talking. I have not been on since December and I believe it was the first week of December.
00:00:43.621 --> 00:00:47.414
So it feels good to be back. It I've missed everybody.
00:00:47.542 --> 00:01:32.001
Hopefully if you're you're subscribed to our Buy Me a Coffee then you saw our bonus episode and you were able to see me there and all my sisters there. But I have missed the weekly daily getting on the podcast, sharing my heart with you, sharing the word of God and starting our day off right together. So I'm excited for this week. Since I was delayed, I prepared and I have been stirred up in beginning of the year content. So I am still in January even though it's February right now. So forgive me, but we're going to be talking about a couple of things as we get started with the year. And even though it's Love Month, we're still at the beginning of the year and today's Devo we're going to be looking at the verse John
00:01:32.105 --> 00:01:50.402
4 5 that says this. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself, it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
00:01:50.506 --> 00:02:01.420
I am the vine, you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit. Apart from me, you can do nothing. Now, I wanna share with you.
00:02:01.719 --> 00:03:09.306
This is actually my verse of the year. Now, I've never really done something like this where I have read a verse, felt connected to it, felt aligned with it, and then made it something that I speak over my life daily. In fact, I have it as a reminder that that at 11am every single day, a reminder pops up on my phone that says, apart from God, you can do nothing. Well, it's because on the night before my 25th birthday, yes, I turned 25 this year. Whoop whoop. Feels good to be 25. But on the night before my 25th birthday, I went on the Bible app and I just looked at the verse of the day. What was the verse of the day on December 30, 2024? And it was this verse, and it was the part that says, if you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit. Apart from me, you can do nothing. And, man, that really spoke to me. It really spoke to me because I started to. I started to reflect on all of the things in my life. You know, on your birthday, you kind of get the birthday blues, and you just start to think about, you know, what good is in my life and what have I accomplished and where are my blessings and how am I blessed and what have I done up to this point?
00:03:09.457 --> 00:04:04.780
And so I started to go down the list of my life, and I quickly realized that every good thing in my life has come from God. Everything good, whether it's my relationships, whether it's my job, whether it's the. The schooling that I've accomplished, everything in my life has stemmed from and is founded from God. It's founded on God. And it just hit me that apart from God, I can't do anything on my own. You know, even when it comes to getting in my word, sometimes I can be inconsistent. Sometimes I can find myself falling off on getting in His Word daily, speaking to him daily, having a conversation with him and praying to him daily, I can find myself getting off track and disconnecting. And it wasn't until my 25th birthday, just about a month ago, where it hit me. Without my time with the Lord, I'm nothing.
00:04:05.530 --> 00:04:08.993
Without my time with Him, I won't have anything to give that day.
00:04:09.162 --> 00:05:15.271
Without my time with the Lord, I won't know how to operate in a godly way that day. I won't know how to have peace through my day. I won't know how to even be able to detect the good things and the bad things of that day because I am not attached to the vine. And I go to church every Sunday and I have godly friends and I have godly parents. But there's something different. When I get into His Word and I speak His Word and I read His Word over my life, it's staying connected to the vine. It's remaining in Him. When we're in His Word, we are remaining in him, and we start to see that we are nothing without God. You know, that might sound bad to some people, especially in the world of empowerment. Oh, my gosh, you're everything. You're amazing. You're made for more. But I think it's beautiful when we can say I am made for more because of what Christ did for me. I am amazing because he is amazing. I am strong because he is strong. I can do all things through Christ, so also without Him I am nothing, but with Him I am complete.
00:05:15.415 --> 00:05:52.110
Apart from Christ we can do nothing. But if we remain in him, he will remain in us. So just remember everything that everything good in our life just remember that everything good in our life comes from God. Lord, we just thank you for today. I thank you for blessing us with every good and perfect gift. We know that every good and perfect gift comes from above, as your word says. So today I pray that you would have us all reflect on the good things in our life, the good gifts in our life and remind us that apart from you we have nothing. But with you we have everything.
00:05:52.519 --> 00:05:56.180
So we thank you for it, Lord. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
00:05:57.959 --> 00:06:18.720
So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend, leave a comment or review for us on the app you're using right now. Until tomorrow. We pray that your latte is strong, but your love for Jesus is stronger.
