You're listening to the my Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1097.

00:00:04.102 --> 00:00:07.530
And today's Devo is called be like your car guy.

00:00:08.349 --> 00:00:26.562
Hey there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven.

00:00:26.705 --> 00:00:48.618
This is the my morning devotional podcast. Good morning, everybody. Happy Tuesday. It's Stephanie Muena here with you all with a fun set of devotionals. Today we're going to dive into it. Proverbs 28 20, found in the NIV version, says, a faithful person will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.

00:00:48.793 --> 00:01:17.453
So it's easy in this day and age to get caught up in the rat race. It's very glorified for you to be the hustler, to make the money. It's easy to even dive into a very intense lifestyle for the sake of making money. And there's a part of it that I really respect and I love because we need to build something. We need to make money. We need to grow a business or grow our position at work. I absolutely respect that.

00:01:17.621 --> 00:01:38.543
However, at the cost of your friendships and your faithfulness, that's where it starts to get dangerous. In our day and age, it's easy to pine for attention. It's easy to pine for affirmation. We want the followers. We want an audience, but no one really talks about faithfulness.

00:01:38.671 --> 00:01:49.647
You know, our car guy, who is so much more than a car guy. His name is Tommy. He's been a lifelong friend to me and my family, and he's been coming to our church for forever.

00:01:49.743 --> 00:03:02.454
But he has always, since I can remember from the earliest memories, he's always helped us with our car, and he is the most faithful guy you will ever meet. When you meet Tommy, you know Tommy because he will immediately make you a friend, and then he'll just suddenly be faithful to you. Every time we needed help with our car, we'd pick up the phone, call Tommy. He'd always answer. And then when I got older and I had my own car issues, I text him and he would answer, and he would come over and drive over to pick me up and help me out with my car. I cannot remember a time that Tommy said he was too busy for me or a bigger job, so he couldn't come and help me whenever I needed help. Tommy was there. And you know what happened? I couldn't go to anybody else for car issues. If I, if my car needed help, I would go to Tommy. If I need a new car, I go to Tommy. And then when I got married and my husband, who was raised by a mechanic, his father was an insane mechanic. They had all the mechanic friends. When I introduced my husband to Tommy, my husband started to, what?

00:03:02.622 --> 00:03:10.054
Use Tommy. And to this very day, we always go to Tommy for car help. And you know why?

00:03:10.222 --> 00:03:14.030
Because Tommy wasn't just a consistent guy. He was faithful.

00:03:14.189 --> 00:03:21.382
You know, there's one thing to be consistent, but faithfulness is the next level of consistency.

00:03:21.485 --> 00:04:13.580
I like to say that faithfulness is consistency's older sister, because you start off being consistent, but then you reach faithfulness. When you've remained consistent, even in the hard times, you can call yourself faithful. When you stay consistent through tough situations, when you have the offer to make more money somewhere or to have a bigger opportunity, that's when your faithfulness is really tested. Well, here's my challenge to you. Be like your car guy. Be faithful like the mechanic that you go to whenever you need car help. There's always going to be a bigger opportunity. There's always going to be more money to make somewhere. There's always going to be more praise, a bigger audience, a quicker way to cut corners.

00:04:14.080 --> 00:04:24.750
But if it's going to sacrifice your faithfulness, it's not worth it. If it's going to chip away at your faithfulness, it's not worth it.

00:04:25.329 --> 00:05:05.290
This goes beyond the workplace, you know, it goes beyond a corporate setting. Are you faithful in your home? Are you faithful to your spouse that whenever they need you, you can drop everything and be there? Are you faithful to your friends that whenever they need you, you're there? Are you faithful to your family, to your parents? Are you faithful at church that whenever they call you and they need you on the worship team, they need you to usher, they need you to work on the coffee bar, you're there. If they need someone to come and just sweep the floors on a Saturday, are you faithful enough to show up?

00:05:05.709 --> 00:06:49.120
Are you faithful to your children that whenever they need you, whenever they call on you, you're there? That if there's a soccer game on a Saturday, you're not taking up those Saturdays and working in the office, but you're shutting down on the weekend to devote your time to your children because you want to be a faithful parent? That's my challenge to you. Where can you be faithful? Where can you take consistency and graduate it into faithfulness. Where can you be? Be a faithful worker, a faithful parent, a faithful spouse, a faithful daughter, a faithful friend. Look in those areas and ask God, where can I be more faithful? Let's pray. God, we thank you for our circumstances in our life. We thank you for the children you've given us, the spouse you've given us, the workplace you've given us, the church you've given us. But, God, if we need to be more faithful, then show us where we can. God, we want to be faithful to your church. We want to be faithful to the family you've given us. We want to be faithful to the workplace you have blessed us with. So show us where we can be more faithful. And God, remind us and show us that where we are faithful at home, we're truly being faithful to you. Where we're being faithful at work, we're being faithful to you. Where we're being faithful at church, we're being faithful unto you. And every area that we're practicing faithfulness, that we're doing it to glorify your name. We're really doing it to worship you. So we thank you and we worship you with our faithfulness. And in Jesus name we all pray. Amen.

00:06:49.740 --> 00:06:53.204
So there you have it, your five minute daily dose of heaven.

00:06:53.331 --> 00:07:10.550
