You're listening to my morning devotional podcast, episode 1066. Today's devot is called better than Pasta. Hey there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning Devotional podcast. Good morning, everybody, and happy Monday. My name is Rochelle Alessi, and I get the privilege to share the DeVos this week, and we're actually going to be doing this DeVos now on our own. When we took over the podcast, we were doing it with two people. We had a host and the person sharing the Devo. But we're going to go back into having one person for the week. So let us know what you're thinking, how you're feeling about this through our text line, our social media. We always love your feedback, so just let us know. So let's get right into today's Devo. And as you heard the title, it's better than pasta. I named it this because my son loves pasta. I film him every time he eats it because he's just obsessed with it. And every time he eats it, he gets so happy. His mood is just the best that it is when he eats pasta. And so this inspired me to share this verse that I read in Jeremiah 20 516.

00:01:27.153 --> 00:01:30.670
And it says, your words were found, and I ate them.

00:01:31.170 --> 00:02:11.572
And your words became to me a joy and a delight of my heart. For I am called by your name, O Lord, God of host. When I read this, all I could think was of my son enjoying his pasta like nothing else. But it really showed me that that's how we need to approach the word of God and spending time with the Lord. That every single time we approach him and we find a new verse and we read our Bible and we go to pray, we need to enjoy it and delight in it, like, if it's the best thing we have ever tried, because we find our best satisfaction in him. We find everything that we are in him.

00:02:11.716 --> 00:02:55.879
So why not approach him in our time of prayer and our time of reading the word just like that, that we're so eager to go because we know we love it so much that we are going to have joy to do it. We're going to have the best time to do it. And we are just, every morning when we wake up, we are excited to spend time with the Lord and read his word, because that is the thing that we enjoy the most. And this verse, as I read that and had that picture of my son, it just encouraged me to say, above everything, I need to seek God and want him the way that I want my favorite things and the way that I look forward to my favorite things.

00:02:56.039 --> 00:03:25.825
I need to look forward that way to spending time with the Lord and praying and just being with him, because everything else will flow from that. So I just encourage you today that as you're praying in your car or in your house or as you have five minutes of quietness with the Lord, with your prayer, approach it like it's the best thing you've ever, ever done and the best thing you've ever had. And you'll see how it really changes the way that you approach your relationship with God.

00:03:25.937 --> 00:03:29.473
And now it just becomes something that you cannot live without.

00:03:29.641 --> 00:03:54.990
So let's just pray this morning. Dear Father God, we just thank you for your word. We thank you for you, Lord. And we just ask that today, as you are with us, that we'll spend time together, that we'll approach you in a way, Lord, that shows you how much we love you, Lord, and that we just get to see your goodness. Because we are delighting in you, Father. And we just say, Father, that all we want today is you.

00:03:55.110 --> 00:04:09.717
Above everything else and all the good things in life, you are the best thing we have. And we honor you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today.
