Blessed Is She Who Believes

Blessed Is She Who Believes

In what ways can believing in God's promises bring blessings and feelings of righteousness?

Today, we’re diving into a profound and timeless message in our devotional, titled "Blessed is She who Believes." As we continue with our Christmastime theme, we’ll reflect on the powerful story of Mary visiting Elizabeth from Luke 1:39-45. This narrative isn't just about a joyful meeting between two expectant mothers; it’s about the faith of women who trusted God's promises. We’ll uncover how belief and faith can lead to blessings and righteousness in our lives.

You are listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1157. Today's Devo is called Blessed is She who Believes. Hey there. We're the Alesses, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:22.449 --> 00:00:47.814
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning everybody and happy Tuesday. I am Lauren Alessia. I will be your host for this week. Again, we're continuing on with the theme of Christmastime and the birth of Jesus Christ. Gabby, my sister last week talked a little bit about, I think it was the birth of Jesus being announced.

00:00:47.975 --> 00:01:21.543
And now we are talking about the birth of Jesus, his actual coming into the world. And I'm really excited about this week. I always say that, but I am excited about this week because this story is ages old. We talk about it every year. Every religion has a different thought and process behind this story. But I just think, and I believe that this story is so profound and so powerful to think that the Savior of the world came into the world as a humble little baby. Anyway, let's get into it. Today we will be reading out

00:01:21.558 --> 00:01:44.343
39 through 45, and we're actually going to be talking about Mary visiting Elizabeth. So this is important because my sister Gabby read a little bit last week about Elizabeth and her husband Zechariah. So now we're talking about Mary visiting Elizabeth in person. And we even reflected on Elizabeth yesterday being pregnant in her old age.

00:01:44.438 --> 00:02:02.805
So let's jump into it again. I like to read out of the ESV Bible, but let's get started. In those days, Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country to a town in Judah. And she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb.

00:02:03.265 --> 00:02:10.312
That must be so painful and weird feeling. I can't even imagine a baby leaping in my womb.

00:02:10.449 --> 00:02:36.205
And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. And she exclaimed with a loud cry, blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.

00:02:36.784 --> 00:03:12.917
This is Such an interesting conversation. I feel like if you are a woman listening to this, you could just relate to this conversation, especially a Christian woman. It's like you're getting excited for your friend, she's pregnant. But you're also getting excited for your friend because she's heard from God, she's believing in God. But really what I want to speak on is this verse right here. Blessed is she who believes. Blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord. First of all, I want to touch on this. You need an Elizabeth in your life, somebody a little bit more mature in the faith than you.

00:03:12.980 --> 00:03:27.164
Somebody who God had promised something. God fulfilled his word on that promise. Who can go before you and say, I believed God, he came through on my promise and blessed are you because you are currently believing in God and God's going to come through on your promise.

00:03:27.284 --> 00:03:53.275
So that's one thing I love that Elizabeth is that person to Mary. But also this reminds me of the verse, I think it was Abraham in the Bible that it said when Abraham believed God, God counted it as righteousness to Abraham because he believed God's word. So we're seeing this common theme in the Bible when we believe we are blessed, we are counted righteous and we are blessed because we believe.

00:03:53.615 --> 00:04:18.165
And so I just want to encourage you when we talked a little bit yesterday about how will this come. But we still lay that down that how we still lay down that why me? But we still have the faith to believe. God's going to bless us and God's going to count us as righteous. And I just encourage you today to be like Mary even when you're like how? Even when you're like, why me? I don't understand this. I don't get the story.

00:04:18.745 --> 00:04:47.199
Have an Elizabeth in your life who's a little bit more spiritually mature who can guide you through it, who can say, I've been through it, you're going to get through this too. But also be like Mary and say, I'm going to believe God anyways. And watch how you will be blessed in return. Let's pray. Dear God, we just thank you right now and we come before you that Lord, we don't need to have a ton of belief God, but Lord, we just thank you right now that even a mustard seed sized faith and belief God will move mountains.

00:04:47.326 --> 00:05:09.144
And we thank you Lord that our belief in our faith will be counted as righteousness and we will be blessed because of it. So Lord, even through this holiday season where we may be stressed maybe having certain emotions of loneliness, sadness. God, we pray that you help us feel the belief Lord in you and feel the faith, Lord in you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

00:05:09.685 --> 00:05:30.485
