You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1137. Today's Devo is called Clothed with Joy. Hey there. We're the Alesses, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:21.888 --> 00:01:57.364
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Happy Tuesday, everybody. My name is Lauren Alessi. I will be your host for this awesome week about Thanksgiving and gratitude, as we are, quite frankly, quickly coming up on a week of Thanksgiving and the holidays. And they're coming up fast and quick, but nonetheless, it's an exciting time. So let's just jump right into the word. I love that we are reading more of the Word because I know that in the time of the holidays, I need more of the word during this time. So let's just jump right into it. I'm reading out of Psalm 30 today, and I am reading out of the English Standard Version. Um, if you've been following along for a while, I have always preferred reading out of the esv. It's just a version that I like reading out of. So let's begin reading. I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up and have not let my foes rejoice over me. O Lord, my God, I have cried to you for help. You have healed me, O Lord. You have brought up my soul from Sheol. You restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit. Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name. It's so funny. Every time I read the songs, I realize how many worship songs literally are just totally derived from the Book of Psalms. Sing praises to the Lord. Are you his saints? And give thanks to his holy name. For his anger is but for a moment, but his favor is for a lifetime.
00:01:57.905 --> 00:04:26.966
Can we just thank God right there? Thank you, Lord, that your favor lasts a lifetime. God, that it's not just a fleeing happy singular moment, or a month or a week, but Lord, that your favor lasts our entire lifetime. Thank you, God. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes when with the morning. I've always heard this, but joy comes in the morning. But this is so interesting. Joy comes with the morning that when we wake up, joy comes along with it. Thank you, Lord, that your anger only lasts for a moment. That the weeping may only tarry for the night, God. But your favor lasts a lifetime. And God, your joy will ultimately come with the morning time. I just thank you right now, God, and I just pray right now and encourage you that if you're listening to this podcast, just begin to lift him up. Just begin to thank him. As for me, I said, in my prosperity, I shall never be moved by your favor, O Lord, you made my mountain stand strong. You hid your face. I was dismayed. To you, O Lord, I cried. And to the Lord I plead for mercy. What profit is there in my death if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it tell of your faithfulness? Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me, O Lord, be my helper. You have turned for me my mourning into dancing. You have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O Lord, my God, I will give thanks to you forever. I love how this verse ends right here. You have turned from me, my morning into dancing. I think I've said this before. It reminds me of that Ron Canole song. You turn my mourning into dancing Again, again. So many worship songs have come from the Book of Psalms. You have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. God wants us to be joyful. God wants us to be glad and that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. And I'm just reading this because I was just talking about this with somebody else, that I have a tendency to be grateful to God in my thoughts, but to never voice that, and this is just convicting me right here, that if I'm grateful to God for something, I need to not be silent. I need to actually voice that out loud because as the psalm says, and not be silent, but to sing God's praise and to be a worshiper unto the Lord.
00:04:27.151 --> 00:05:07.880
So I'm just going to pray right now, even as we close this podcast out with a word of prayer, God, right now, I just thank you for all that you've done in my life, God, in this podcast and in this season of thankfulness, God, I just give thanksgiving up to you, God, for all that you have done in my life, God, from the big things, the little things, to the things I may never even see or notice, God, whether it be protections, Lord, whether it be angels that surround me, God, open doors, closed doors, God, I just thank you for all that you have done in my life. And I lift you up, you are good. Lord, you are an awesome God. You are a faithful God and you deserve all the glory from your children.
00:05:07.952 --> 00:05:22.273
You deserve all the glory from me. And I just pray right now for the people listening to this podcast. May they be encouraged to also lift up your glory and your faithfulness and give thanks to you in the season of Thanksgiving. In Jesus name we pray.
