You are listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1184. Today's Devo is called Doing a New Thing. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning, everybody. I hope that this morning you are filled with peace, that you're having a good day so far. Whether you're on your way to work, dropping your kids off at school, whether you're on your way to school yourself, whatever you're doing, I just truly pray and hope that you are having a great morning.

My name is Lauren Alessi, and I am always just super stoked to be here. You know what, let's just jump right into the word because this word really hits home for me. As we were preparing this podcast episode, Allan and I kind of chuckled because he said, Allison did this one too. New Year. So I'm just going to run with it because you know what? I really feel like God needed it to be in 2024 at the end, and he needed it to be 2025 in the beginning. And I'm believing someone needs to hear this word today, so let's just jump right into it. Today's verse is Isaiah
00:01:19.132 --> 00:01:51.659
16 through 19, and it says this. This is what the Lord, he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters. Verse 17. Who drew out the chariots and horses, the army and reinforcements together, and they lay there, never to rise again, extinguished, snuffed out like the wick. Verse 18. Forget the former things. Do not dwell on the past. Verse 19. See, I am doing a new thing now. It springs up. Do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams, the wasteland.
00:01:52.239 --> 00:02:18.211
I was having a discussion with a couple friends, like last week, actually, towards the end of the holidays, and we were just talking about what God's doing in our lives, some things he's imparted in us, and how when you know God has called you to something, it's not always easy, but you're just grateful to God that he's called you to it. Whether that's God's called you to something really, really massive and you're currently working in it, or whether, you know, God has called you to.
00:02:18.336 --> 00:02:21.852
To a specific thing and you know, you have to wait on it.
00:02:21.955 --> 00:03:12.800
Whatever journey you find yourself in, you find yourself in a place of humility. And like God, just thank you for choosing me. And I think we all find ourselves in one of those areas, in one of those seasons where, you know, you're called and you're just like God. Thank you for seeing this in me. And one of my friends was just having a tough time thinking, like, but why do I have to wait? Why is this such a struggle? Why? Why do I have to wait for it? Why can't it just come easy? And this verse came up in my head. And if you really read the beginning of this verse, God is saying, like, basically, look at what I've done. I've made a path through the mighty waters. I drew chariots and horses and army and reinforcements together they lay there, never to rise again, extinguished. Who snuffed out like the wick. And then he says, forget the former things.
00:03:12.840 --> 00:04:07.189
Do not dwell in the past. Because guess what? I'm going to do a new thing. And I don't know who needs to hear this word today, but this is what I truly believe. Sometimes God needs you to wait on something. Sometimes God is calling you to a higher thing. Sometimes God is calling you to wait on something because he's like, I'm doing a new thing in you and you're not going to understand it and you're not going to get it. People around you aren't going to understand it. But it's because I'm doing a new thing. The chariots and the horses, they all got that. But that's an old thing. I'm doing a new thing in you. And this may be such a deep word for a five minute morning podcast. Maybe you're too tired to be listening to this, but you know what? I pray that it encourages you and it speaks to you and it challenges you anyway. Maybe you're really, really going through it and you're just like, I wish I wasn't called to this. This is way too big for me. Or you're saying, you know what?
00:04:07.229 --> 00:05:06.420
I accept. Accept the challenge. I actually want to be called to bigger. I want to be called to more from God, because guess what? He wants to do a new thing in you. He wants to do something in you that he hasn't done in anybody else before. So let's pray together. Dear God, we thank you because you look at us, your children, and you don't want to do something that you've done ten times over before. You're an extraordinary, unique God, you look at each of your children as unique and you truly want to call each of your children according to their uniqueness and likeness in which you make them God. So Lord, I just pray for every listener if they're struggling right now in whatever season they're in, God, give them courage. Give them strength to get through it. God. But Lord, speak to them and let them know that, Lord, behold, you are doing a new thing in them. You are doing a new thing in the year 2025. And give them the vision and, and the courage and the strength to be able to see that new thing. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
