Don't Worry About A Thing

Don't Worry About A Thing

In what ways do you find it challenging to not worry about things and instead, pray about everything?

In this episode we dive into the comforting words found in Philippians 4:6-7, which remind us not to worry about anything, but to pray about everything. Tell God what we need, and thank Him for all He has done. Through prayer and gratitude, we can experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand, and find comfort in the knowledge that His peace will guard our hearts and minds.

If it resonates with you, share it with a friend who may benefit from this uplifting message. Spread the positivity and let's support each other in finding peace in the midst of worry.

You're listening to the my Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1011. Today's podcast is called don't worry about a thing.

00:00:12.173 --> 00:00:30.356
Hey, there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven.

00:00:30.500 --> 00:01:34.853
This is the my morning Devotional podcast. Well, hello, everybody. Happy Monday. Gabby Alessi is here, your host for the week, and I am joined by Rochelle Alessi. Good morning, everybody. Good morning. Good morning. Rachelle and I are related by marriage, and we just realized it's our first time being in the podcast together. Yeah, I've done Lauren, I've done it with Steph, and now I get to do it with you. I know. I'm so excited. So you have a lot of good stuff that you've been sitting on, and you're. You came to me today. You were like, I've had an idea, and I'm excited to do it. And so I'm excited to. To hear about it. And I know. I know the listeners are excited as well. But one thing we want to shout out is, there is a listener here in Florida. I love this. We have somebody in our backyard. That's awesome. And they were just. They commented on our. On our podcast, and they wanted to reach out and thank us. I think this lady actually attends our church, which is super cool. We're not just reaching people that are outside of the church, reaching people in our own community. And she wanted to say, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to Stephanie and Gabby for praying over me.

00:01:34.974 --> 00:01:45.974
And I think that's really special to see that not only are they getting the community here at Metro, but they're also listening to this weekly. So if you're listening to this this morning, you know who you are. You sent this message.

00:01:46.093 --> 00:02:08.074
Thank you so much. Thank you. Yes. Please keep listening and keep sharing. And I have a feeling today's episode is one that you're going to want to share. So, Rochelle, why should we not worry about a thing? All right, let's go into it. So, Philippians four, six, seven says, don't worry about anything. Instead, pray about everything.

00:02:08.653 --> 00:02:23.114
Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

00:02:23.454 --> 00:03:04.074
And I chose this verse, because it's for me, has been kind of a guidance in my life. And I think it's been for anybody who's read this verse, is probably meant so much every time you read it, it almost makes me emotional to think about any hard time in life that you've had to sit and wait. Any hard time where you've been through something just really hard, whether it's relationally with people, whether it's at work sometimes, is our own homes, the homes that we are currently under that are just not healthy or just putting pressure on us in ways that we can't understand.

00:03:04.614 --> 00:03:19.361
And you start to just based on that, you start to fear things. You start to worry about your future. You start to worry about your right now, about not having enough, not having the right people in your life or money or all these different things.

00:03:19.457 --> 00:03:30.705
And when I read this verse and immediately just calms all those voices down. Yeah. Because it's a straight up guidance on what to do when you're going through something really hard.

00:03:30.849 --> 00:03:34.253
And that is not to worry about it, but to pray.

00:03:34.554 --> 00:03:41.786
And when you pray, tell God everything. And once you've told him everything, you have confidence that he has listened.

00:03:41.889 --> 00:04:40.500
And so you go straight to just thanking him for everything that you do have in your life. Because in hard moments, it's so easy just to think of everything you don't have that you forget about thanking God for what you do have. And when you thank God for what you have, you have this immediate peace. Like the verse says, that comes even when you don't understand, because you might not understand the season that you're in. You might not even know why you're having to go through it. And you might even feel like it's unfair for you to go through it. But through it all, you don't need to understand. And you still can have God's peace to get through it and operate in anything that you need to do. And then it says, his peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ. So even if you are in the middle of something really hard, you know that you can still live, no matter where you live, you can live in the peace of God, and he will guard your heart and your mind, and you will be protected at all times.

00:04:40.612 --> 00:05:25.672
That is so beautiful. I love that you use this story or use this verse, because just now I was having a conversation with Stephanie, our sister, and I was making it, or I was telling her about how last week, and this is all girls know what I'm about to say every girl has experienced this. I was going to sleep and I'm thinking, okay, I'm 24 years old, and I started to do the math on my life, okay, if I got married at this age and then at that, when I get married, I want to wait for two years, about a year, two years, until I have children. So that'd be. I'll be this age when I have children. And then, oh, my gosh, if I want four kids, then I need to plan it. And I start to go down a rabbit hole or trail of my future and what I want and the plans and at what age do I want this baby to come and then that baby to come?

00:05:25.807 --> 00:06:05.446
And it got me all the way to thinking, oh, my God, will I live to see my great grandchildren? That was literally the trail that my brain went down. I was so stressed out. This is at one in the morning. I should just be going to sleep. And I had that moment of like, oh, my gosh, I just need to go to sleep. I just need to give it to the Lord. This is so ridiculous. And I love this verse because it speaks to that situation when you are up at night or you're on your way to work and you are stressing. And my scenario is something to not stress about, but there's other things that you might be stressing about that's worth the stress. It calls for stress. But even in those moments, the Bible talks about don't worry about a thing and everything.

00:06:05.589 --> 00:06:09.302
Pray about it. So that is so good. Always. Thank you.

00:06:09.437 --> 00:06:13.182
That is powerful. Rachelle, can you pray for us today? Yes. Let's do it.

00:06:13.237 --> 00:06:56.074
Dear Father God, we just want to thank you. We want to thank you for all the amazing things that you have done, because we can still have things to say. If we are breathing and we are listening, there's things that we can be thankful for. And we, right now, just say, God, thank you for every good thing I have in my life, and that you will provide everything that we need to continue to prevail through every single test or every single hard thing that is happening in our lives right now, because you are faithful. And I just pray that your peace that surpasses all understanding will cover every listener today and this week as they continue to do their life. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. Amen.

00:06:57.093 --> 00:07:00.557
So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven.
