Effective Faith

Do you ever wonder how effective your faith really is?
In today's episode of My Morning Devotional, host Richelle Alessi is joined by her husband, Chris Alessi, as they embark on a journey to explore the concept of "Effective Faith." Drawing inspiration from 2 Peter 1:5-8, we'll discuss how supplementing faith with virtue, knowledge, and love can transform our lives from being unfruitful to fruitful. You'll hear some insights from Chris and Richelle's personal life that illustrate the power of a faith that is charged with intention and action.
This 5 minute daily dose of heaven will give you a boost of guidance and strength to cultivate a more powerful and productive faith.

Today's Devo is called Effective Faith. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Good morning, everybody, and happy Monday. Welcome to another week of My Morning Devo.
00:00:34.179 --> 00:00:55.899
My name is Rachelle Alessi, and I get the privilege of being with you this week. But even better, this entire week, I actually have my husband Chris Alessi with me, and we've done some podcasts before and you guys really love them. So I decided to bring him back because he has some great things to share this week. They really love me. They did. Can you quantify that? How'd you hear about that? That's awesome.
00:00:56.320 --> 00:01:07.608
Because we actually get amazing messages from our listeners. We actually have such great girls that listen and truly respond and give us their opinion.
00:01:07.703 --> 00:01:39.894
And they are just, they're just so great that when you were on, they just let us know that they loved having you. So I decided to bring you back. You were popular. Well, thank you for having me back. You know, one of the cool things about being married is anything that kind of on my heart and mind, we talk about together and vice versa. And so this is something that we've talked about, but this is Second Peter, chapter one. This is just something I. I'm really processing out. But it says, for this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith. Supplements are big right now. You know, everyone's taking supplements.
00:01:40.022 --> 00:02:01.537
But supplement your faith with virtue and virtue with knowledge, knowledge with self control, self control. With steadfastness and steadfastness. With godliness, godliness. With brotherly affection, brotherly affection with love. And this is the verse I want to focus on. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful.
00:02:01.713 --> 00:02:32.777
And the reason that like it and it says in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. But the reason that that speaks to me so much today is I don't think some people realize that there is an ineffective way. Kind of the narrative out there, especially with some of the ways that people kind of follow Christ these days, is like, everything. As long as my intent is good, then I'm going to be fine. And I said a prayer in church and everything's going to be fine. And there's a lot of truth to that. But there's also truth to, like, when you go bowling, you have kind of bumpers that keep you from going out on the edge.
00:02:32.954 --> 00:04:46.185
And Peter is saying, hey, no. Like, there's actually a way to be ineffective and unfruitful. Maybe you'll still go to heaven, but the faith just doesn't work. It's ineffective. And, you know, we have a lot of toys from Marino, and there are just some that, like, don't have batteries in them. And the reality is, I think some people might be orienting their life in the direction of Christ, but they feel like they don't have the batteries. And so we're gonna talk about it this week on the podcast. But the most beautiful thing about it is this is proof that I can have an effective faith. I can have a fruitful faith. I can be powered up. And so, yeah, at first it's like, wow, you know, I can be ineffective. But the logic then also says that means I can be effective. And this week, we're gonna talk about how to be effective. And I hope you know, as you're listening right now, you can be more effective, your faith can be more fruitful, it can get better, and it will get better. And listening to this podcast is a great start. Yep. I love that. And I'm excited to for you to share because this has been a conversation in our household, like we mentioned, and we're excited to bring it here to the podcast. And when you talk about effective faith, it encourages me so much that when I brought it up to Alan, our producer, I was like, I need to bring Chris to talk about this, because I love it when you share about effective faith, because I've seen you exercise that. I've seen you want to live your life to the fullest and not just be a good Christian, but experience everything that God has available for us through his Word. So this week is going to be amazing. Can you pray for us? Absolutely. Father, I thank you for every listener, for everybody that might be listening intentionally or even just in the car while someone else listens. Lord, I just pray that your spirit would make you more and more real to the listener, that we would know you more and and more in a more real and more real way. Father, I pray that you'd help us supplement our faith with all of these virtues that Peter lays out so we can have an effective and fruitful faith and an effective and fruitful life. We thank you for it all, Lord. In Jesus name amen Amen. So there you have it.
