You're listening to the my Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1099. Today's Devo is called Eyes of Grace. Hey there.

00:00:10.502 --> 00:00:32.957
We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning Devotional podcast. Good morning, everybody.

00:00:33.014 --> 00:00:40.090
My name is Stephanie and I am so grateful that you have joined us all today for our my morning devotional.

00:00:40.469 --> 00:01:01.750
I am very excited about the topic that we're going to dive into today because this is a topic that I've really had to put to action myself. So I pray that this blesses you. We are reading from the NIV version of the Bible, and our Bible verse today is Ephesians four one three.

00:01:02.049 --> 00:01:16.778
Also, I have thought about this devotional based off of our responses that we've been getting from you guys. We are reading a lot of, I guess you can call it fan mail or your emails and your comments and your DM's.

00:01:16.914 --> 00:02:12.020
We are actively reading them because we want to know what you are walking through so that we can walk through it with you and just keep you encouraged and keep you filled up with the word of God, because we are all in this together. So, Ephesians four one three, it says, I, therefore a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called. And here's the best part. With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the spirit and the bond of peace. Funny story, when I was around twelve years old, my mom had to take a work trip to New York and we went with my mom and two of our friends who used to work with her at the time on these work trips. Well, I was twelve years old and I was obsessed with my image.

00:02:12.099 --> 00:02:58.930
That's all I was caring about at the time. I just, I was so adamant about the clothes I wore, the way I did my hair, all of it. And when we went to New York, I brought a pair of these heels at home. I never wear heels at twelve years old, but I thought, I'm going to New York. I got to look cute, I got to look stylish. I'm bringing my heels. Well, there was one day that we had to walk like 20 blocks and I thought it's the perfect day to wear my high heels. And I go downstairs in my cool little high heels and one of our work friends was like, are you going to wear high heels? As we walked 20 blocks in New York and I was like, um, of course I'm gonna wear my high heels. Well, it was the biggest mistake of my twelve year old life. I totally should not have done that.

00:02:59.270 --> 00:04:05.789
And my friend looked at me with the eyes of grace and realized, this little girl is twelve years old. She does not know what she is doing, but she will come into the understanding one day that you do not wear high heels in New York City at twelve years old. And thank God for that grace, because I learned my lesson that day and I never did that again. You know, Grace, it's not tolerance for toxicity. It's not looking for a way to understand a dysfunctional person. And grace is not empathizing. When you have grace for someone, you are giving them the time to come into understanding of what you know is right. If you have somebody in your life that you're really frustrated with, because they are just not getting it. They are. They're making decisions that are only hurting them and it's setting them back. I'm not talking about toxic people because that's a whole other story. I'm talking about that person who just can't seem to quite understand what right and wrong is yet.

00:04:06.310 --> 00:04:32.939
Let me give you an encouragement. Look at them with the eyes of grace, because Grace says they don't understand it now, but in a little bit of time they will understand it. And in the meantime, our job is to pray for them. Pray that they will come into that understanding. Your prayer needs to be that honestly, they're going to meet Jesus point blank.

00:04:33.319 --> 00:04:36.783
I pray that they have a growing relationship with Jesus.

00:04:36.951 --> 00:04:43.620
I pray that they have a growing relationship with the Holy Spirit and that the Holy Spirit will speak to them.

00:04:44.120 --> 00:06:39.485
Not that I have to jump in and nag them on what's right and wrong. There's a time for that. But in these moments where you realize your word isn't quite getting to them, that you've already told them what to do, and they're just not getting it yet, this is where you just have to step back and look at them with the eyes of grace and pray that in time they will come into understanding and pray that the Holy Spirit will speaking to them. Are you looking at your spouse with the eyes of grace? Are you looking at your family members with eyes of grace? At your in laws with eyes of grace? Are you looking at your employees with eyes of grace or your friends with eyes of grace. That's my challenge to you today. If it's out of your control, if you've already told them what to do, if you're frustrated with the environment that you're in because you just can't seem to control it, what you can control is how you look at that situation. What you can control is how you look at that person and pray today that you will have eyes of grace, that they, in due time, will understand what the Holy Spirit is trying to speak to them. Let's pray. God, I pray that every person listening will have a new outpouring of grace for the people around them, for the environment that they're in, for their marriage, for their children. God, it is heavy to be around people that don't seem to understand what it is we're trying to get them to understand. But, God, you are ultimately in control of their life. You know them better than we know them. So, Father, we give them to you. We put them on the altar and we surrender them to you. And we pray that you give us eyes of grace. Maybe you'll start to show us what you're trying to do in their life. Maybe they don't quite understand things yet, because you have a journey for them.

00:06:39.637 --> 00:07:19.209
Allow us then to be an instrument for your plan, God, a vessel for your plan. And give us eyes of grace to see what you have in store for them, Jesus. And give us eyes of grace to know when to speak up and when to stay silent. And God, in the meantime, we pray for the people in our lives to meet you, to have a relationship with you and the Holy Spirit so that they can hear from you first and foremost. And we know that if they have a relationship with you, a growing relationship with your spirit, God, then they'll be okay. They'll hear from you sooner or later. And we surrender them to you. And in Jesus name we pray.

00:07:19.290 --> 00:07:41.779
Amen. And amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
