Faith That Heals

Faith That Heals

Have you ever wanted to help someone - but felt like you just didn't have what they needed? In today’s episode, host Gaby Alessi invites us to reflect on the story of Peter and John and their interaction with a paralyzed man in Acts 3.  Together, we’ll explore how the Holy Spirit can empower you to encourage, comfort, and bless others in ways that go far beyond money or resources.

Let’s come together as a community to listen and learn how to be God’s hands and feet to those around us. Join us in this devotional and let’s open our hearts in prayer, asking for discernment and courage to share the greatest gift we have—God’s love!

00:00:00.080 --> 00:00:14.295
You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1253. Today's Devo is called Faith that Heals. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida.

00:00:14.407 --> 00:00:29.414
And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast.

00:00:29.542 --> 00:01:13.737
Well, happy Wednesday, everybody. I'm excited to be back on the podcast. Gabby Lessie, your host for the week, and I'm going to jump into episode three, Devo three of the week, because I'm noticing something. If I talk too much on the front end, I go way too long. And this five minute devo is becoming 10. So we're gonna jump into this. All right, we're picking up an Acts 3, verse 6, and it says this. Silver or gold, I do not have, but what I do have, I give you in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk. So some context. Peter and John, they are now moving out, walking out in the ministry that the Lord called them to. They are filled with the Holy Spirit.

00:01:13.834 --> 00:01:21.237
They come upon this temple, and right outside the temple gate, there was a lame man. And the man calls out for. For money.

00:01:21.293 --> 00:01:43.974
He's like, please, money, anything that you might have. They turn to the man and they respond this way. He says, silver or gold, I do not have. They're basically like, hey, look, we're not the people to give you money. But then they turn and they say, but what I do have, I give you. And what they give the lame man isn't money. It's not a shirt off their back.

00:01:44.141 --> 00:01:47.975
It's not food. They give him healing.

00:01:48.168 --> 00:02:13.920
They say, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk. And what you see is in verse 8, it actually says that he jumped up to his feet and he began to walk and he went into the temple courts, walking, jumping and praising God. You see, Peter and John, they didn't have money to give the lame man, but they had something greater. They gave him something greater.

00:02:14.064 --> 00:02:39.042
It was healing in Jesus name. You know, this is a reminder for us that the greatest gift we can offer to others, it's not material, but it's spiritual. I think as believers, we have to remember, especially when we're spirit filled, that we carry the presence of Jesus whenever we go. We carry his presence, his spirit. Spirit lives inside of us.

00:02:39.225 --> 00:02:53.521
And so sometimes we focus so much on what we don't have, oh, I don't have this, I don't have that. I don't have the resources. When we have to be reminded, hold on. We have all that we need, and that's Jesus, the presence of God inside of us.

00:02:53.705 --> 00:03:12.662
And so God is saying, don't look at what you don't have. Look at what you do have. You might say, I don't have the resources, I don't have the time, I don't have the money. But maybe you have a, a gift of encouragement, you know, maybe you have the gift of cooking. I don't know, maybe. Let's make this practical.

00:03:12.725 --> 00:03:26.758
Maybe you have a listening ear, time to listen to somebody, and that's something, that's all that somebody might need you. So, you know, it's not always about money. It's not always about the things that come from our pocket. It's not about the material things.

00:03:26.813 --> 00:03:38.352
It's got to be spiritual. And in the world that we live in today, we need more believers that are operating in the spiritual realm. And I'm not saying be kooky.

00:03:38.496 --> 00:04:08.530
I'm not saying see everything through the lens of spiritual eyes and try to see different things. No, I think it's more about learn to learn to listen to discernment. Lean on the Holy Spirit. When he puts something on your heart, don't always think it needs to be material. Don't always wait for someone to reach out to you. What is the spirit telling us? Because here's the thing. If you are a believer and you're filled by the spirit, you have something unbelievers don't have.

00:04:09.150 --> 00:04:46.339
You see, I love that we have people that we can go to. There's doctors and there's people that we can get help from. But just remember, if you are spirit filled, you have something that they don't have. You have the spirit living inside of you. And so let's live and operate and walk and work and talk, knowing that the spirit lives inside of us. And all that somebody might need is a soft word, is an encouraging word, is just an embrace from a spiritual friend that is something that we can give them that other people can't.

00:04:46.920 --> 00:06:14.120
So maybe we don't have the resources for it, but we have the spirit for it. And God has given us that spirit. So is there someone in your life, Is there somebody in your life who needs something only Jesus can give? And are you willing to be his hands and feet? Are you willing to be the one to say, lord, use me, I will give it, Father, we just thank you for it. We thank you that you have given us your spirit. We thank you that you've given us the gift of your spirit, that we can operate in the spirit. Father, I pray that you help us see things not as. As worldly things, not as a physical thing, but God, let us see things spiritually. I pray that the Holy Spirit would give us discernment, would help us discern between right and wrong. I pray that you would help us pick up on when things are not right in someone else's life or in our life and in our community, Lord. And that we can give people something that they can't get anywhere else. We can give them your spir. Father, we know that you can heal, we know that you can provide, we know that you can protect. So use us as your hands and feet to do so and we thank you for it. In Jesus name, amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend. Leave a comment or review for us on the app you're using right now.
