You're listening to my morning devotional podcast, episode 1068. Today's Sivo is called feeling off. Hey there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida.
00:00:14.830 --> 00:00:29.850
And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning Devotional podcast.
00:00:30.149 --> 00:00:37.701
Good morning, everybody, and happy Wednesday. We've made it through the middle of the week. My name is Rochelle Alessi, and I'll be sharing.
00:00:37.805 --> 00:00:45.229
I've been sharing the Devos this week with you, and I hope that the last two days have blessed you. But we have another one today.
00:00:45.310 --> 00:00:56.526
And the title, as you heard, was feeling off. And the verse I have for you is psalm 63 one. And it says, o God, you are my God. Earnestly I seek you. My soul thirsts for you.
00:00:56.597 --> 00:01:40.798
My flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. When I read this verse, I had the picture of la desert. And you see all those big movies, Star wars, and when they are in those desert islands and there is nothing to drink and there is nothing to eat, and these people are, like dying and they can barely walk. And that's all I could picture. When I read that part of in a dry and weary land where there is no water, it gave me this picture of when we are not spending time with the Lord, when we are not seeking him. That's what we are, a dry land with no water, and we really have not much left.
00:01:40.974 --> 00:01:44.670
And it's making us feel tired and we're making us feel weary.
00:01:44.829 --> 00:01:59.864
It's making us feel off. And the way that I kind of saw that in my own life, Washington, where there was weeks or days and there's months sometimes where you are nonstop. You're in and out of town. You have work, you have projects to finish. You have a family.
00:01:59.992 --> 00:03:00.050
You have so many things that you're doing that the moment you wake up, all you're thinking about is your to do list. It's all the things you need to get done that day. In fact, while you're dreaming, you're dreaming about your to do list, or you're dreaming about how you were late to your meeting or you were late to the very important thing were not. You were supposed to be at early and prepared, and that alone throughout the day, you start to be like, why do I feel off? Why do I feel a little sad, or why do I feel anxious? Or why do I feel empty? Like there's my day, just it's feeling off. There's something off. And instead of saying, I'm struggling with something, I realize I'm really not struggling with something. I am just thirsty, I'm dry. I have not spent time with the Lord. I have not just woke up in the morning and said, lord, help me. I have not sat down and said, lord, I want you today. I want to spend time with you today.
00:03:00.349 --> 00:04:39.524
Our soul, our everything needs to wake up every morning, no matter what we have, no matter how busy we are. And just say, even if it's five minutes of quietness of me speaking to the Lord, saying, lord, today I want you, today I want to see you in my day. In the midst of all the busyness and all the things that I have to do, I still want your presence with me. And the way that I'm going to do that is by seeking you. I'm telling my soul today, I'm with you everywhere I go. I am acknowledging, like we said yesterday, I am acknowledging that you are here with me and you're going to help me through this. But my soul thirsts for you and you are my God, and I'm going to seek you above everything. I'm not going to make everything else a priority. I'm going to make you my priority. And if that means that while I am walking to my meeting, while I am in the car, even if the kids in the car are crying and going crazy, I can still focus my soul to say, I'm going to seek you, Lord, I, and so I just, again, encourage everybody today, if you're feeling a little bit off, don't go immediately to, what am I struggling with something? Is there something wrong? It truly might just be you have not spent quality time with the Lord and you need that time. That's where everything flows from. So today, let's make it a point to say, even if it's five minutes somewhere, I'm going to stop. I'm going to put my phone on do not disturb. I'm gonna go alone, and I am just going to start praying and thanking the Lord for how good he is. And I'm just gonna tell him how much I love him, how much I appreciate him. I'm just gonna worship him.
00:04:39.651 --> 00:04:43.196
And that right there will change your day.
00:04:43.348 --> 00:05:47.939
So let's pray. Dear Father God, right now we just say, Lord, thank you. We acknowledge you today, Lord. We just say to you, we want you to be the focus of our day. We are not too busy for you, Lord. Everything we do comes from you, so we seek you first, Father and I pray that your presence will be around us, that your spirit will be our helper today, that the moments that we want to get distracted, the moments that we want to give into our flesh, your spirit is there to help us and remind us that you, Lord, is all we need. Not material things, not physical things. Lord, whatever we need is from you, and we seek you today. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
