You're listening to my morning devotional podcast, episode 1047. Today Devo is called give Mercy, get Mercy. Hey, there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning Devotional podcast. Good morning, everybody, and welcome to another episode of my morning devotional podcast. I'm your host, Rachelle Alessi. We are so excited to be here with you. And today, you heard Lauren yesterday as we talked about mercy, and we're going to continue that throughout this week. And, Lauren, you did amazing yesterday. Thank you. So let's get right into it. Yes. So the verse for today is Matthew five seven. And it said, blessed are the merciful, they shall receive mercy. And of course, this is when. This is Jesus speaking, and he's speaking the sermon on the mount. The most beautiful words, I think, that have almost ever been spoken in history, in my personal opinion. And he says, in this beautiful sermon, he speaks these words, blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. And I just think, man, it's literally a blessing when we show mercy to others, because then that means we receive mercy in return. Yeah. And when we give grace to others, we get grace in return, and. And we don't do it out of. Okay, so if I'm gracious to others, then that means, you know, okay, I'll get Grace back. So therefore, that's the only reason I'm gonna be gracious. No, it's just when our hearts are in a position of, I'm going to be merciful because God's been gracious and merciful to me, and that's the only reason I'm doing it. The grace and the mercy that is comes in return to us. I just think that's just a beautiful concept. But I think to go further into this, if you're not a Christian who's operating in mercy, how can you consider yourself a Christian? Because the only reason we're saved is because he showed us grace and because he showed us mercy. So if we're not operating in mercy and if we're not operating in grace, we really need to reflect on our own salvation and our own walk. And I'll be completely honest, this is something that's challenged me because, you know, I'm not the most patient person. I'm not the most gracious person. Sometimes I'm kind of quick and hot headed, and I wouldn't consider myself someone who's super gracious, but it challenged me to be like, hold on. 2000 years ago, God gave me grace. I think the least I could do is give this person grace. Right now. You know, whether it's at work, whether it's with your family member, whether it's with your spouse, or, you know, I want to say this. There are healthy boundaries that need to be in place. And if somebody has crossed a line, okay, that's different. Boundaries are different than just give grace an unbounding grace? No, boundaries are completely different.

00:03:01.955 --> 00:03:20.062
But I think as Christians, that needs to be a very essential, important part of our daily walk is giving grace to others. And if we're not operating in that, then maybe it's time to sort of reflect on our daily walk as Christians. And I love that you said we don't do it because we know what we get in return.

00:03:20.246 --> 00:03:42.099
Yeah, that naturally just challenged me to say, okay, I have to do this because I'm a Christian and God has given that to me. Yes. But now this needs to flow from who I am as a Christian, and I'll get it in return. Awesome. But it's not why I do it. And that alone challenged me, so thank you. Yeah, he's challenging me, too. Yes.

00:03:42.759 --> 00:03:53.216
Can you pray for us today? Yes. Dear Lord, we thank you so much for an amazing day. Lord, we thank you that you brought today. God, we thank you that the sun came up. Lord, we thank you that we're listening to this devotional.

00:03:53.288 --> 00:04:24.879
God. And Lord, we thank you that you are a gracious and merciful God. And Lord, we just pray that as we walk out today, as we walk out this week, God. Lord, help us in this area where maybe we're feeling a little bit challenged. God, help us with our patience levels. Help us with our just overall grace and mercy levels. God, just as you show us mercy, God, help us show others mercy in return. God, not to get anything out of it, but just solely because you are good to us, God. And we want to show others the goodness of God in return. In Jesus name we pray.

00:04:25.000 --> 00:04:32.487
Amen. Amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today.
