You're listening to the my Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1059. Today's Devo is called go for Gold.

00:00:07.990 --> 00:00:26.181
Hey, there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven.

00:00:26.326 --> 00:01:54.628
This is the my morning Devotional podcast. Good morning, everybody, and happy Thursday. I am here with my baby Matthew, because he wanted to be with mama, so he will be partaking in our podcast today. He might not say anything, but Gabby's gonna share, and she is a much better podcaster than Matthew. If you hear any noise, it is Matthew. It is Matthew. It's my son. But, Gabby, take it away. I'm very excited to hear from you today. Take us to the throne. All right, so this is what's cool, is tomorrow the Olympics start. Oh, wow. The Olympics are starting tomorrow. So today's episode is called go for gold. And write, matthew. Go for gold. And it's first corinthians 924 25. And it says this. Do you not know that in a race, all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. And the next two weeks, we're about to see people that give their entire physical being, their bodies, their heart, their soul, into going for gold, into getting a crown or to getting a medal. And as wonderful as it is here on this earth, it will not last. And as believers, we all know we can't take these materialistic things into heaven with us.

00:01:54.763 --> 00:01:58.052
Matthew is agreeing with me as he oohs and Oz.

00:01:58.236 --> 00:02:05.400
But these Olympians, they're doing everything they can in their life to train.

00:02:05.700 --> 00:02:27.581
They're getting their mind right, they're getting their heart right, they're getting their physical being right. To win a prize, to win a reward. And this is something, this is such a good reminder for us as believers. They can't take the prizes that they get on this earth. They can't take the reward into heaven. But what we work for, what we run for, we can. Yeah. And so we should work harder.

00:02:27.645 --> 00:03:22.195
We should run faster. We should take everything that they do, right. All that training that they do in the gym or whatever it is. Let's do that as believers. And what does that mean for us? That means when we're going into the workplace today, be filled up spiritually. Read your word. Work hard to train your spiritual muscles. When you're going into the workplace today, when you're going to that family vacation, maybe this weekend, as the summer comes to an end, be trained up. Be filled up. If you're not serving in your local church, this is one way that you can go for gold. This is one way that you can win the prize. Go serve your local church. Go serve the kids ministry or the youth ministry or the welcome team. Open the doors for people. Whatever we can, let's do it where we are striving to win a prize, because whatever we win, whatever we get here on this earth, it's going to go into the next life. In fact, we might not see the reward in this life.

00:03:22.348 --> 00:04:03.526
We might not get the prize, we might not get the gold medal here. But God has rewards in heaven for us. So for us as believers, we should not have people like Olympians working harder at life than us. Work hard. Whatever you do in your workplace, work hard at your workplace, with your family, work hard in your homes, work hard at, at your school. Whatever it is, work hard at it and run the race. Run to win. Don't just run to run. Amen. So go for gold. Be an olympian in the. In the body of Christ. This weekend, as we watch these Olympians work hard and enjoy the olympics, let's watch some good olympics. All right, let's pray.

00:04:03.557 --> 00:04:29.069
Lord, we thank you for today. We thank you that you've given us the ability to run this race. And I just pray over all the listeners that they would run it well, that they would train well, God, that they would work hard for it, that they would do everything they can to win the prize. Because, God, there are rewards in heaven for us. And when we all get there that day, we're going to be blessed by the rewards that you're going to give us. So we thank you for it in Jesus name, amen. Amen.

00:04:29.410 --> 00:04:32.874
So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven.

00:04:33.002 --> 00:04:50.250
Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
