You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1188. Today's Devo is called Goals for 2025. Patience. Hey there.
00:00:10.448 --> 00:01:04.614
We're the Alessi's, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Happy Wednesday, everyone. My name is Stephanie Munya and we are continuing in our goals for 2025. On Monday, we talked about trusting in God. Yesterday we talked about committing to unity in our relationships. And today, the third goal for 2025 is this to learn to be more patient with God, myself and others. Patience and persistence, they are pretty much the bookends to improving one's life. Patience on one side and persistence on the other.
00:01:04.781 --> 00:01:51.250
Because great things will manifest over time. We're reading from Joshua six, the story of Jericho. And you know the Israelites, they marched around Jericho for seven days in silence, with the seventh day requiring seven more circuits. But it was this persistence that was the key to their success. As for six days, nothing was happening in the physical. You know, I work out for one week and I see no results and then I want to give up. So can you imagine what it must have been like for these Israelites to be marching in the hot sun with no shade around city walls for six straight days and then on the seventh day, they got to like double up and do it seven more times without seeing anything in the physical?
00:01:51.670 --> 00:03:06.157
I know if it were me, I don't know about you guys, but that would be very hard to finish because I'm, you know, I'm a results person and results are good because it's a measure of success. But then what happens when you begin something new and you don't see any results in the first week when you start a diet and you don't see yourself losing that weight when you start exercising, but you don't see the muscle building when you start consistently reading your Bible, but you're not really being filled yet, you're just tired when you're consistently praying, but you're not seeing the answer to your prayers. It is very hard to patiently wait for something without any hope of the results. But here's the truth that I want to encourage you all with. Breakthroughs often require patience and persistence, even when the results are not immediate. I have a friend right now who's going through cancer. And it was a really bad diagnosis. It was a lot of cancer in her body. And she has to go through multiple treatments to kill the cancer. And what does she have to do in the meantime?
00:03:06.334 --> 00:03:31.129
She waits. She rests. She speaks life over herself, over her body. And the beautiful thing is, she now enjoys every minute given to her, because patience and persistence brings the breakthrough. She's going through all those procedures, but she still has to wait for the Lord to completely heal her body. And, you know, something to consider.
00:03:31.590 --> 00:04:08.270
Maybe the patience is producing something in you that you did not have before. Maybe there's parts of us that need to be eliminated before God brings us our breakthrough. My dad, he told me one time, you can't have a breakthrough without the breaking of your will. Let me just say it one more time. You can't have a breakthrough without the breaking of your will. And my will wants it to happen right now. My will wants it to happen like the idea I have in my head. But that's not God's will. My grandmother used to tell me, is it good or is it God?
00:04:08.610 --> 00:04:11.550
And I don't know about you, but I want God.
00:04:12.210 --> 00:05:21.894
So God's will over mine, which means my goal is to be patient and persistent. Romans 5, 3, 4 says, not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, which basically means we're thankful in our sufferings because we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance, character, and character, hope. Let's pray. God, we thank you that not only do you stand with us in these hard times, but you use these hard times to produce in us a perseverance and character and hope. You are so wise in how you handle these seasons, God, we just completely trust you right now. Even though we don't know how this is going to end, even though we're growing tired and being patient and doing the same thing every year, hoping that you'll answer our prayer. We trust that you'll use this season to our benefit and everything that the enemy meant to harm us, you will use for our good.
00:05:21.982 --> 00:06:02.579
Jesus, we trust you with this season, but we stay patient. Pray. I pray right now that if anybody listening to the sound of my voice needs a fresh outpouring of patience and grace for the season that they're in, that right now, they will start to feel that patience so that they can continue to persist in doing the good work and to wait for God to answer their prayers. We thank you, Jesus, that already you are working on our behalf to answer our prayers. God, in the way you want to answer them. Your will over our will, God. And we trust you and we thank you and we love you. And in Jesus name we all pray. Amen.
00:06:03.399 --> 00:06:24.149
