God Lives In You

God Lives In You

Have you ever wondered if God truly dwells within us?

In today's episode, host Lauren Alessi explores this profound idea rooted in First John, chapter four. As she delves into the concept of divine love, she reflects on how acknowledging Jesus as the Son of God leads directly to God living within us. Drawing an analogy from a moment in the movie "The Wedding Planner," Lauren beautifully illustrates how love is intertwined with respect and trust. She emphasizes that this mature love transcends mere physical connections, empowering us to express the same love in our personal relationships.

Join Lauren for this heartfelt devotional as she prays for guidance in understanding and demonstrating a deeper, more mature love, mirroring the love God has for His children.

We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:22.000 --> 00:01:36.114
That's why we've partnered with our friend Alison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Happy Wednesday, everybody. My name is Lauren Alessi and I am your host for this week. And we are talking about love. We are reading out of First John, chapter four, and we're reading out of the topic that says God's love and ours. We're just going by that whole section and I hope that this Wednesday and this week is flying by really fast for you. Why? Because simply, I love you guys and I just wish that for you. So today we're talking about how God lives in you. And we're reading out of verses 13 through 15, and it says this. This is how we know that we live in him and he in us. He has given us his spirit and we have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the son of God, God lives in them and they in God. This is really cool because it basically just shows the love and trustworthiness of God to say, if anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the son of God, God immediately lives in them and they in God. And to me, that shows trustworthiness and then that shows love.

00:01:36.281 --> 00:02:45.349
And it reminds me of that part, and this just came to me, that part in the Wedding Planner where Jennifer Lopez is asking her dad about his arranged marriage that she just found out about. She didn't know her parents were arranged marriage married. And he's like, well, basically we did love each other, but we hated each other. And then that hate turned to respect, and then that respect turned to trust, and then that trust turned to love. And a lot of times love looks like different things. It looks like respect. I respect God, I trust God and I love God. And God has the same thing when it comes to us. And I love that this is what it's saying. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the son of God, God trusts them. It doesn't say this in the Bible, but by saying that God trusts them and then lives in them and then they live in God. And what a beautiful picture of love just through that right there, just by testifying that God has sent his son to be the savior of the world and acknowledging that Jesus is his son, that immediately there's trust and there's respect there and that God's going to live in us. And what a beautiful picture of love right there between God and his children.

00:02:46.129 --> 00:03:59.246
And so I just think this is such a mature view of love. Again, that's not found in the world of, oh, I just want you to be my twin flame and I just want to watch Netflix with you. Oh my gosh, you watch the same shows as me, but it's a picture of love and respect and trustworthiness and trusting each other. And it just goes back to. It could be a little repetitive, but it's like the other day said that when we show, when God shows us that love, we're able to show others that love. And a lot of times we just apply this to people we may want to get saved or our friends. But this can even look like your personal relationships, your spouses, your boyfriend, like that. This can look like any of that. If God loves you, God has equipped you to show them a mature love to them. So let's pray. Dear God, I thank you so much, God, that you show us a mature way of loving God. Not some superficial love God that we so often think that's the correct way to love you God. No, a mature love God that we can then show others in our own lives. God and I just thank you for that, Lord.

00:03:59.277 --> 00:04:10.355
And I pray that everybody continues to have an amazing week showing and learning and being challenged from this mature way of love. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it.
