Good Friend

Good Friend

Have you ever wondered how to truly seek wisdom in your everyday life? In today's episode, host Lauren Alessi reflects on the pursuit of wisdom as she explores the Book of Proverbs. She shares her insights into how wisdom is not something that comes naturally, but rather something we must diligently seek and tune our ears toward regularly. Drawing from her personal journey and Proverbs 2, Lauren paints a vivid picture of wisdom being like a precious treasure that requires daily searching and prayer. She emphasizes how this quest for wisdom leads to a deeper understanding of God and the world around us.

Join Lauren and the My Morning Devotional community as they pray for the grace to seek wisdom and insight with open hearts. Let today be a beginning of a journey towards profound understanding and connection with God.

You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1226. Today's Devo is called Good Friend. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:22.384 --> 00:01:33.197
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Happy Monday everybody. My name is Lauren Alessi. I will be your host for this week. I'm really excited to be speaking this week on the Book of Proverbs or reading. Not so much speaking, but reading this week on the Book of Proverbs. I've been going through an Old Testament Bible plan and I was just sort of taking in the Book of Proverbs and there's that old saying, a proverb a day keeps the enemy away. And it's so true if you really get it in your system, it's such an amazing book of the Bible. A few things I want to just shout out before we get started. I just want to thank everybody who has been continuing on with me and my sisters. We are celebrating a year anniversary of taking over the My Morning Devotional podcast. We absolutely loved this podcast with Allison. We it has been a pleasure just being able to take part in it and we just want to thank everyone who has joined along along the way or everybody who has stayed along the way from Allison to us.

00:01:33.334 --> 00:01:58.802
We just so appreciate and it has truly been a really fun year. So thank you, thank you, thank you for all your love and support. So let's dive into the Word. Today I'm going to be reading out of Proverbs 2 and actually I'm going to be reading out of the Message Bible. I usually don't read out of the Message Bible, but sometimes I just like how it sounds. So I'm going to be reading out of the Message bible. So Proverbs

00:01:58.865 --> 00:03:04.812
5. And it says this good friend, take to heart what I'm telling you. Collect my counsels and guard them with your life. Tune your ears to the world of wisdom. Set your heart on a life of understanding. That's right. If you make insight your priority and won't take no for an answer, Searching for it like a prospector panning for gold, like an adventurer on a treasure hunt, Believe me, before you know it, the fear of God will be yours. You'll have come upon the knowledge of God. I really Love how this verse is making us look at wisdom like it's something we really have to search for. An insight is something that it's not something you're just born with. It's not something that you, although it is something you gain with years, it's something you do have to search for every single day. It's something you have to pray for. Let's review this part. It says tune your ears to the world of wisdom. It's something you have to tune your ears towards. Set your heart on a life of understanding is something you have to set your heart towards.

00:03:04.876 --> 00:03:23.116
It's not something you just have in your heart automatically. If you make insight your priority and you won't take no for an answer. Searching for it like a prospector panning for gold. Have you ever seen those people on the beach that they have those like metal detectors or like even in those Nat Geo shows, They're like searching for gold. They're searching for something.

00:03:23.268 --> 00:03:26.955
They're willing to look everywhere for just the smallest piece of gold.

00:03:27.108 --> 00:04:07.355
That's what the Bible wants us to do for wisdom, like an adventurer on a treasure hunt. If you've ever. When you were a kid and you used to do scavenger hunts or treasure hunts, you wouldn't stop until you found the treasure, until you found whatever it was at the end of the scavenger hunt. Believe me, before you know it, the fear of God will be yours and you will have come upon the knowledge of God. I just love that the Bible makes wisdom and insight very clear, that it's something that we have to see seek every day and it's not something that we just have automatically. And although you do gain it with life and you do gain it with years, I think we can all agree we've all met people who should have wisdom and they don't.

00:04:07.467 --> 00:04:51.459
And we've all met people who have wisdom and they're wise beyond their years. So I think wisdom is something that we need to tune our ears to search our hearts towards. And I pray today as I close out this episode that we begin to do that. So let's pray. Dear God, thank you so much for your word and how it's all surprising every time I read it, God, that wisdom is not something we're born with, but it's something we have to search for every day, Lord, and every week and every month. So, God, we just pray as we close out this morning's devotional. God, let today be a day, Lord, where we search for wisdom, we search for insight, we search for knowledge and we search for understanding, Lord, in all aspects of our lives. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

00:04:52.680 --> 00:05:13.439
So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. We pray that your latte is strong, but your love for Jesus is stronger.
