You're listening to the my morning Devotional podcast, episode 1003. Today's Devo is called Good Serve.

00:00:08.614 --> 00:00:26.815
Hey there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven.

00:00:26.960 --> 00:00:29.844
This is the my morning devotional podcast.

00:00:30.423 --> 00:00:44.884
Happy Wednesday, everybody, and good morning. My name is Lorna Lessie again. I'm joined again by my sister, Stephanie Muenya. Hello. Good morning. Hello. How are you? Glad you're here today. Wow. My trump voice. My trump voice. So fancy.

00:00:45.664 --> 00:01:01.814
You're just killing it with the puns. What's this one about? Good serve? I'm excited to hear about it. This, okay, this is not a punishment, but it is a double meaning. And Ashley thought of this one. Yes, our sound engineer. We'll give her that title. She thought of this title today.

00:01:02.993 --> 00:01:33.924
So this one, we have Mother's Day coming up in a few days. I think it's this upcoming weekend, and I will be speaking specifically to the mamas today. Love it. So, mamas, stay on. If you are not a mom, then, hey, stay tuned because you might be a mom soon. I was a mom in two years, and I had no idea I was going to be a mom. So this one is called good serve, and it is. Mother's day is coming up soon. So I just wanted to speak to our moms, and I wanted to remind you that servanthood is your strength. Let me say it again.

00:01:34.224 --> 00:01:37.615
Servanthood is your strength.

00:01:37.799 --> 00:01:55.968
And it could feel so hard to believe that sometimes. I'm a mom of two babies, and they are 18 months apart. So we are in what they call the thick of it. And my daughter just turned two. So we are creeping onto the terrible twos.

00:01:56.016 --> 00:02:03.567
And there are days that you really do feel like you were the servant to your entire family. You woke up and you made them breakfast.

00:02:03.615 --> 00:02:52.180
You cleaned the dishes, then you had to make them lunch, and then you cleaned the dishes, and then you tried to put clothes on them, but they tore off all the clothes, or they peed through the clothes. So you had to clean the clothes, then you forgot you had laundry you had to do, and then, oh, my gosh, I have to go make dinner. There are some days that you just feel like you are the servant of the household, and it could feel defeating. But let me remind you, servanthood is your strength. Proverbs 30 115 says she gets up while it is still night, and she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants. And then verse 21 says, when it snows, she has no fear for her household, for all of them are clothed and scarlet. And then 27 says she watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Yeah.

00:02:52.292 --> 00:03:11.117
So the Bible loves to highlight the strength of a woman's servanthood. Yeah. That's what the word of God is saying. And we can never see our work as time wasted. We can never say, you know, I just stayed home tonight and we did nothing. You made dinner for them. You got them in bed.

00:03:11.316 --> 00:04:25.925
Never look at your work as something simple. You're taking care of your babies. You're raising up a future generation. You're raising up the next christians, the next leaders, the next. The next politicians of the next generation. And yeah, putting on their pj's that night and making them dinner is one step involved in raising up your children. Yeah. So never see your servanthood as something less than that is something the Bible says to be proud of. Stay at home moms. You are doing the Lord's work for your children. Stay in the game. Don't get weary and doing good. Don't think that you're doing anything less than. Don't forget that this is just a season. This is just part of the small years of your children. The toddler years are hard. The kid years are hard. But this is your calling for right now. And remember, we will look back on these days, and we're gonna want to come back to them. Yeah. We're gonna really miss these days where our children are so cute with their little voices at night and they. Yeah, they threw the food all over the floor. But it's funny. And they laugh at you. We're gonna miss their little cheeky smiles when they do something rebellious. We're gonna miss those days.

00:04:26.069 --> 00:04:33.278
So soak up all of these days, but be proud of your womanly servanthood. It is.

00:04:33.406 --> 00:04:48.550
It is part of your calling. It is part of your season. We will get our late night dinners again. We will get our friends back. Our friends will always be there. We're going to be having our date nights again with our husband soon. Don't worry. It will always be there. It will come back.

00:04:48.701 --> 00:05:42.685
But this season of servanthood, it is one of the most beautiful, most sacrificial seasons of our lives. Yeah. And we are sowing seeds for a greater harvest in our children. So don't grow weary in it. Be proud of your servanthood and be ready to be celebrated in a couple days when you get your chocolate covered strawberries and your flowers and whatever it is that your husband's gonna get you. And you better remind him to get it for you. Communicate right now what you want. Cause he's gonna get it for you. Cause you deserve it. But be proud of who you are as a mother. No, absolutely. And I would also say this applies to if you don't have children, if you're single, if you're married, if you do have children, but your kids have gone through school and they don't need your help anymore. As much this still applies to you. You could still serve your family. You could still serve your church. You could still serve your community. That's good, Lola. It's good to have a servant's heart and don't be idle. That's so important.

00:05:42.870 --> 00:06:24.081
But no matter what season of life you're at, this whole message applies to you. And I love that we're speaking on it to moms because Mother's Day is coming up, but there are so many people that this does apply to you. And if you feel like, okay, I've gone to work all day, and then I'm running to youth group because I serve there, or I'm running to connect group because I have. I run a connect group and I have no life and I have no time for anything. It's okay. You're serving God's kingdom, and you're sowing good seeds. Good Lord. So, just wanted to incorporate that for anybody listening who may not have kids or maybe their kids are groaning out of the house, you are also sowing. Great seeds as well. So I. I love that topic. But, Seth, will you close us out in prayer? Yes. Let's do it. Father, we first want to thank you because you set the example of true servanthood.

00:06:24.218 --> 00:07:19.776
You were the one that washed your disciples feet. So, God, as we just go about our day, remind us of ways to be like you. How you served your disciples, how you served the people around you. Show us how to serve the people around us and to be proud of serving other people. For our mothers listening on this podcast, God, I pray that you give them a. A fresh dose of joy and energy to go home and to serve their families and to be proud of that servanthood they are called to right now. And we thank you, Father, for everything you've done in our lives and for everything you are going to do. And in Jesus name, we all pray. Amen. Amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
