Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we continue our 15 devotional series of prayers and read out of John 19:37 which says "For these things took place that Scripture might be fulfilled. “Not one of his bones will be broken.” And again another scripture says, “They will look on Him whom they have pierced.”
"There is no doubt they had just killed the son of man, to us, because like I keep repeating, we are on the other side of the resurrection. But clearly the crowd didn’t know what they had just done.
Yet, scripture had forewarned us of his coming. This verse proves that he fulfilled the word. It goes to show that our interpretation of something, isn’t actually what God is trying to tell us.
Think about it. These people were looking for a king to come and save them, yet they got a carpenter, born in a manger.
They wanted something he wasn’t because they expected Him to be something they wanted rather than who He was. I hope this encourages us to be careful of the boxes we put God in. He doesn’t show up the way we expect, but we must not be blind when he does make himself present.
Time and time again the word proves that he will be far greater than we can ever hope or imagine. He has more in store for us. I hope that we trust Him, I hope that we know our expectations for him will never be met, he will always exceed them, but we cannot be disappointed when they don’t meet up to our imperfect and selfish standards.
