You're listening to the my morning Devotional podcast, episode 1041. Today's Devo is called holding on. Hey there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida.

00:00:14.630 --> 00:00:29.705
And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning devotional podcast.

00:00:29.897 --> 00:00:41.225
Good morning, everybody, and happy Monday. Hope this is a great start to your week. I'm your host for the week, Lauren Alessi, and I'm joined today by my sister in law, Rochelle Alessi.

00:00:41.258 --> 00:01:24.936
How you doing, Rochelle? I'm doing good. Good morning, everybody. How you doing, Lauren? I'm doing good. It's a good Monday. I mean, yes, it's a good Monday. Yeah. It's a good Monday. Yeah, yeah. Okay, so, Rochelle, I'm excited to be hosting this week alongside you. So what verse do you have for us today? Yeah, today we're gonna do Romans, Romans twelve nine. We're going to keep it easy. We're actually going to stay in romans twelve the entire week. I love that because this is such a great chapter in the Bible, and there's so much good wisdom that I feel like could help us live our everyday Christianity, and it's awesome. So Romans twelve nine says, let love be genuine, abhor what is evil, and hold fast to what is good. And when I read this, it just shows.

00:01:25.007 --> 00:02:16.656
It's just a very simple truth. And it's kind of just easy to understand that we have to let love be genuine and we have to hate what is evil and hold fast to what is good. Especially right now and this time of where we are, with everything that's approaching, some of you might be listening from different countries. So what you're going through in your countries might be different, but I think this is worldwide where there is so much evil in the world that we think that sometimes our response is to be evil or to kind of do the same thing that they're doing to us. Right? Cause it's like, if you don't like me, I'm not gonna like you. But this verse really just says that we have to hate what is evil and hold on to what is good, because love has to be genuine.

00:02:16.818 --> 00:02:23.747
And all that comes from us saying, I'm going to hold on to what is good, even though not everything in the world might be good.

00:02:23.883 --> 00:03:54.830
There's some evil stuff happening, but I'm going to choose to hold on to what is good. And if I'm questioning what is good, I'm going to open my bible and find out what the bible says about this specific thing and say, because this is good, I'm going to hold fast. And this just gives me a picture of when you were kind of little, you would go to sleep. I know this is silly, but you would go to sleep and you would either hug something really tight to your chest, whether it was your blanket or your teddy bear or whatever it was. I don't know why. When I read this verse, I just felt like that's how I needed to hold on to everything that is good and that is the word of God. So I'm not going to keep close to my chest all the evil stuff. I'm going to keep close all the good stuff that God has given me, everything that's in the Bible. So that is how this verse encouraged me. I love that. And I love how you used that to kick off this week. Cause it's such a. We sort of read over that passage, but it is a good reminder. And I love how you said for, you know, it can look different, the good versus evil. It looks different depending on where we're from. Cause it's so true. Like, what we face in the US. Can look so different to somebody who's. Listening in the philippines or who's listening in a completely different country. And I would say if you're listening and you're from a different, even from a different state, we live in Florida, but if you're listening from a different state or a different country, please respond. Please let us know where you're listening.

00:03:54.870 --> 00:04:13.133
From so we can, you know, just know and also keep you in prayer. But I loved how you also inputted that in there. Rochelle, would you pray us out for the day, but also for the upcoming week? Yeah, let's do it. Dear Father God, thank you once again for another amazing week. We want to start this Monday right by holding on to what is good, Father.

00:04:13.262 --> 00:04:16.790
And we know that everything good comes from you alone.

00:04:16.910 --> 00:04:24.129
So we're just going to focus this week on holding on to you and what your word says. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

00:04:24.430 --> 00:04:27.870
So there you have it, your five minute daily dose of heaven.

00:04:27.990 --> 00:04:45.269
