You're listening to my morning devotional podcast, episode 1040.
00:00:04.222 --> 00:00:07.434
Today's Devo is called Jesus is peace.
00:00:08.294 --> 00:00:26.461
Hey there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven.
00:00:26.597 --> 00:01:36.016
This is the my morning Devotional podcast. Good morning, everybody, and happy Friday. We made it. We made it to the weekend and we are so excited. But we're going to go out with an amazing devotional. So, steph, can you take it away? Let's do it. So today I'm talking about how Jesus is peace and he gives you peace, which you can read in Isaiah nine six, which says, and he will be called wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting father, prince of peace. The reason I wanted to talk about this was because now we're in summer. It is the era of vacations and getting rest and going away so that you can recharge your batteries, which I'm all for, and I love doing. And I. I just did. A couple weeks ago, it was a straight two weeks of rest with my family. But when I came home, I noticed that I. I didn't read my Bible as much as I wanted to. And I wasn't in prayer time as much as I wanted to be in prayer time during my vacation. And when I came home, I immediately was thrown into the work life again of busy schedules, early mornings, busy afternoons.
00:01:36.159 --> 00:01:43.775
And it was funny because I thought after being recharged, I would have the energy to just dive right back into normal life stuff.
00:01:43.959 --> 00:01:47.674
But I forgot to get my soul recharged.
00:01:48.134 --> 00:03:12.002
I forgot to pray and be in prayer time and to read my Bible while on vacation, which is what really recharges me nowadays. And I was almost a little spoiled when I came back from my vacation thinking, I miss waking up late. I miss my late nights and late mornings and my brunches and my easy days. I miss that. I want that. And instead of me being recharged, I was a little spoiled. I was like, I got used to the good life, the good life and coming back into normal life. It didn't really recharge me in the way that I needed it to. So this is my reminder for you guys in this summer season that if you go on vacation this weekend, even this weekend, if you're going on a vacation, or if you're now going through the weekend schedule, don't forget to incorporate the prince of peace in your vacation time because your body will be refreshed but your spirit won't be. Yeah, you need to invite Jesus and the holy spirit into your vacation time because that's what's really going to recharge you. In the Bible, Jesus says that he's now the lord of the Sabbath, which I've always heard that as he is your rest, we get to live a life of rest because of Jesus. Jesus not only gives you peace, he is peace. Not only gives you rest, he is rest. He's not only going to encourage you to practice the Sabbath.
00:03:12.138 --> 00:04:00.316
Jesus is your Sabbath and you can't really rest without Jesus. So as you go into this weekend, as you go into your vacations, remember to just spend five minutes in prayer time. Five minutes reading your word, doing whatever you can, waking up a little bit earlier, going on the beach and taking a walk along the shore, just talking to Jesus, listening to worship music, whatever you got to do to invite the Holy Spirit in on your vacation time, in your weekend time, because you need the Holy Spirit to actually recharge your batteries. So remember that as you experience your vacations and as you rest with your family, trust me, you need Jesus in every area of your life and he's the only one that can bring you proper rest. Wow. That's so good, steph. Thank you for that. That was awesome. Thank you. Can you pray for us?
00:04:00.379 --> 00:04:18.512
Yes. Let's pray. God, we thank you so much for the ability to vacation with our family and to have a weekend of rest. But God, I just want to invite you in right now, on this Friday that our vacations and our rest times will be full of you, that we will be able to meet your rest.
00:04:18.608 --> 00:04:48.692
We'll have your peace. We will have your recharging as we step away from a noisy and busy world so that we can hear your voice better. God, I pray that you recharge our spirits, you recharge our minds so that we can come back to our busy schedules, our normal schedules. God, with you in our hearts, Father, we're ready to come back into our normal everyday life. Ready to do what you have called us to do because we recharge with you at the center of our vacation.
00:04:48.827 --> 00:05:17.233
God, we thank you so much for an amazing week and we pray for an even better weekend. And in Jesus name we all pray. Amen and amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend.
