You're listening to the my morning Devotional podcast, episode 1117. Today's Devo is called let's Plan. Hey there. We're the Alesis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:22.326 --> 00:01:11.531
That's why we partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning Devotional podcast. Happy Tuesday, everybody. My name is Lauren Alesi, and I will be your host for this week. We are talking all about letting go of control, giving it to God, and today is a little bit of an interesting concept, and it's called let's plan. So the verse of the day is found in proverbs 1921, and it says this, many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. So when I was putting together this podcast episode, I thought of kind of a great relatable story for this episode, and me and my family and a couple of coworkers.
00:01:11.635 --> 00:01:41.135
We were flying back from an event, and a really bad storm had hit Miami, where we were landing, and we had to reroute to a city, west Palm beach, about 2 hours out from our home. Once we landed in west Palm, we were all like, oh, my gosh, this is the worst. We had just come back from a long event, and everybody whipped out their phone and tried to plan something next because we didn't know how long we were going to be stuck on this plane. Could be an hour.
00:01:41.207 --> 00:04:19.483
The flight attendants always tell you, oh, it's going to be 30 minutes, could be 45 minutes, could be an hour. It could also be all night long. You genuinely never know. So everyone whipped out their phone, looked at renting a car and driving to Miami, looked at taking the train to Miami. We just looked up every single possibility. Well, God is good. And a miracle happened. And by the time we were finished planning, we decided it's going to be faster to just sort of wait it out, see how long it's gonna take, and then, if anything, we'll rent a car and drive to Miami. By the time we decided that the storm had lifted, God is good, and we were able to fly back to Miami and drive home safe within 20 minutes and not two and a half hours, which was awesome. So I tell you this story because this episode is called let's plan. And we often hear this concept in christian culture that when we plan, God laughs at our plans because God's plan always prevails and I think that's a really sweet, cute concept. But I also don't agree with it at all because I think God loves it when we plan for our lives. Just like us on that plane. I think God loved that all of us were responsible enough to think, hey, we don't know how long we're going to be stuck on this plane, so let's look at other options just in case. In fact, proverbs 21 five says good planning and hard work lead to prosperity. So I think the Bible actually is all for hard work and good planning. So I don't agree with this concept of don't plan at all or when you plan, God laughs at it. I don't agree with that because I think you planning for your future and you planning for your life actually shows that you're faithful with the time and resources and the talents that God has given you right now in this season, as long as we all submit and understand that God's purpose and God's plan for our lives is the one that's going to stand and prevail at the end of the day. Which is exactly what this verse is saying, many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. This verse isn't saying many are the plans in the mind of a man, lol. But it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. He's not laughing at us. The Bible is just saying man has many plans. That's awesome. But remember, the purpose of the Lord will always stand. So I just pray that all of us come to terms with that today. Let's all plan for our futures.
00:04:19.572 --> 00:05:49.208
If you're looking for a house, go on zillow, search for your dream house. Save for your dream house. If you're looking for a spouse date, plan for the future. If you are planning to start a family budget, save for that. I think these are good examples of planning for your future, but under submission of okay, but the Lord's timing and the Lord's purpose will always prevail. And I just pray that this sits well with you and you understand that God never laughs at our plans. In fact, God smiles when you plan for your life because it shows that you are wise and faithful with the time and resources God has given you. So let's pray. Dear God, I thank you so much, Lord, for just the resources you've already given us. Lord, whether big or small, you have given us time, treasures, resources and talents to already work with and Lord, I just pray that you put creativity. God, inside of us. Lord, to be able to plan and to be able to be creative with what you've already put on the inside of us. God and maybe people haven't heard this concept before. Maybe they are struggling a little bit. God, I just pray that you help them come around to this new concept, Lord, that you want them to be faithful with the resources, time and talents you have given them, and that we do have freedom to plan for our futures. God under submission of the purpose you have in our lives. In Jesus name we pray.
00:05:49.343 --> 00:05:56.672
