You're listening to the my morning Devotional podcast, episode 1006. Today's Devo is called Lie down and Sleep. Hey there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:22.309 --> 00:01:27.774
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning devotional podcast. Good morning, everybody. Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday. My name is Stephanie, and I hope you enjoyed all of my devotionals I shared last week. But today we have my wonderful sister Lauren Alesi speaking with us. Hello, everybody. I cannot wait for you to share. You just told me that this whole week you want to dedicate to peace. Yes. Which I cannot find a better, perfect, a better person to talk about this topic. So, Lauren, take it away. Yes, I really, when I was trying to find the verses for today and for this week, I was like, I really just want to talk about peace, because I feel like nobody's promoting that. And our God is not a God of confusion or anxiety. Our God is a God of peace. And we need to be reminded of that, especially in this day and age. So the verse for the day is psalm 48, and it says, in peace, I will both lie down and sleep for you alone. O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

00:01:28.073 --> 00:02:10.788
And I think it's good. I will always give context to the verses that I'm speaking on, and I will always encourage, go back and read the full chapter. But this comes from a psalm in David, from David, where it says, the psalm is called, answer me when I call. And this is how he ends the psalm. And he says, in peace, I will. Both lie down and sleep for you alone. O Lord, will make me dwell in safety. And I found it so interesting that it's almost a psalm where David is crying out, answer me, O Lord, when I call. But throughout the psalm, where he's kind of asking God to answer him, and he's almost begging for God, he ends it with, but it's okay, because in peace, I will both lie down and. Sleep for you alone, o Lord, will make me dwell in safety.

00:02:10.915 --> 00:03:05.873
And that's how he ends his answer to God. And so I really found that really interesting, because even in times where we can be begging out and crying out to God, God still gives us peace. God still can give us rest at night and in seasons of weather, maybe things are going good but we still are somehow struggling with a lack of peace. Or maybe we're, like, really going through it, or maybe you're turning on the tv or you're struggling with seeing things on the news. Like, we just live in a very stressful time, and it's hard to find peace. It's good to know that our God is a God of peace, and we are not meant to carry anxiety, to carry confusion, to carry restlessness. Our God is a God of peace, and he makes us lie down and. And by. By the water and lie down in green pastures. He gives us peace, and he grants us peace, and we can rest assured that he gives us rest. And so that's kind of how I wanted to start this week.

00:03:06.734 --> 00:03:52.704
And, yeah, that's pretty much my verse for the day. That's beautiful, Lauren. And I'm glad that you say that. We are not meant to be anxious. We are meant to be in peace with God and to live in peace. It's so easy to forget that. And especially in our culture, where we think rushing and hurry and making sure that your hustle, hustle, hustle. That is good. But it could be confused sometimes with anxiousness and stress when that's not what we're made for. We're made for being peaceful with God. Can you pray us out? Yes, absolutely. I want to say one more thing, and I think this is funny, though it is 1000% a culture thing. I'm learning Italian, and one thing I just learned is they just recently added an english word to the italian dictionary. Do you know what that word is? Stress.

00:03:53.804 --> 00:04:30.622
They had never used that word in Italian before. No way. But they just added that word. So for those. There's no italian word for stress. There may have been a word, but they just now clarified that the word stress. Now that. That. Now that word stress is used in italian vocabulary. So I just want to clarify. If you're sitting and you're thinking, no, it's normal for me to be stressed. Like, we understand with life comes pressure and normal things, and it's not good to be idle or lazy, because we talked about that. But if you are constantly anxious and stressed out, that that is not from God. That is not normal. Wow. And to be filled with anxiety is not. Okay. So just wanted to add that little fun fact.

00:04:30.677 --> 00:05:10.851
Wow. Crazy. But, yes, I will pray this out in Italian, please. No, I wish, but not yet. Dear Lord, we thank you for a great start to a great week, Lord. And Lord, I just pray that any attack against the enemy, I just rebuke it. In Jesus name. Because, of course, as we start to pray about peace, Lord, this is when we're gonna start experiencing more confusion, more restlessness, more anxiety. So, God, I just pray right now for a week full of peace, a week full of rest. God, I pray that people struggling to sleep at night, Lord, give them rest, Lord, in Jesus name. For people struggling to collect their thoughts because they're just so confused, Lord, give them peace in Jesus name and let us experience a great week ahead. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.

00:05:10.908 --> 00:05:29.156
Amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend, leave a comment or review for us on the app you're using right now.
