You're listening to my morning devotional podcast, episode 1122. Today's Devo is called Love is Patient. Hey there. We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida.

00:00:14.669 --> 00:00:29.711
And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the my morning Devotional podcast.

00:00:29.896 --> 00:01:21.150
Good morning, everybody, and happy Tuesday. Thank you so much for joining us today. My name is Rochelle Alessi, and I get to be with you this week. And like I mentioned yesterday, this week is all about relationships. And so I'm excited because at the end of the week, I have a surprise for you. And so stay tuned because it's going to be a great, great episode. So by the end of the week, get ready is going to be great. Let's get right into today's Devo. And like you heard the title, it's all about love is patient. And that is such a great theme when it comes to relationships, because we know that in relationships there's gonna be conflict and strife, but we have to be patient. And so the verse that I have for you today is first corinthians 13 four, seven. And it says, love is patient and kind. Love does not envy or boast.

00:01:21.689 --> 00:01:44.019
It is not arrogant or rude. I it does not insist on its own way. It is not irritable or resentful. It does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.

00:01:44.680 --> 00:02:17.469
Honestly, after reading this verse, I feel like this verse said it all, and I don't even know how I'm gonna say it better than this verse says it, but I think this is such a great verse for us to meditate on and use every single time we come around the people that we love the most. Because sometimes the people we love the most are the people that we're not as patient for because they're patient with us. They're used to seeing our every side. But this verse says that love is patient and kind, and love does not envy or boast.

00:02:17.780 --> 00:03:45.900
That right there is great with friendships. Just think of your best friend. Think of when you show them love today or this week that love is patient. You're going to be patient with your friends and your family that the way that you show them love is by being patient and kind. I love that it says that it's also not arrogant or rude. I remember reading this and feeling so convicted because sometimes it's so easy for us just to be rude in our comments. When we are going through a bad day, we just want to say things the way we are. When I get home, my husband knows my heart. So technically I'm like, okay, even if I say something the way that it is not the right way to say it, he knows my heart. But this verse says that love is not arrogant and it's not rude. And that was just like, wow. That means that anytime I'm rude, I'm not showing love. I know it's simple, but if I'm arrogant or I'm rude with the people that I love the most, I'm not showing them love and also says it's not resentful. This goes right to what we spoke about yesterday. We cannot be resentful with the people around us. We have to forgive and we have to let go. But I love how this goes on to say, well, love is love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.

00:03:46.599 --> 00:03:50.072
Because love is all these things.

00:03:50.216 --> 00:04:08.705
And I just encourage you to think about the people around you that you love the most. Your friends, your family. The holidays are coming, which means you're going to be around family a lot. And there might be family members that you're able to get along and there's others that you might not get along with.

00:04:08.807 --> 00:05:17.177
But I encourage you, even with those family members, try to have a good relationship with them by showing them love, by believing the best in them. This verse says, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. If we approach love this way through our relationships, that is going to be so freeing for us to know that if we are going to think the best in people, if we're going to hope what with them, and we're going to endure the hard times with them, we're going to be able to have great relationships with the people around us. Maybe not perfect, but they're going to be great. And you're going to be able to enjoy them so much more. When you are showing them love through patience, through kindness, through a soft word, through believing in them and thinking the best in them, you're gonna get the best out of them, which means you're gonna have the best relationship with them you could have. So let's pray today. Dear Father God, we wanna thank you for the great people that you have put around us, for our families, for our friends, and for even our co workers.

00:05:17.233 --> 00:05:54.634
Father. And we just ask that you'll forgive us for the times that we've been arrogant or rude to the people that we love the most. I pray that moving forward, we approach your relationships with love, with patience, and with kindness, and that we'll believe the best in the people around us. And that we will be the cheerleaders of all the people that we love the most. That we will not give them our worst, but that we will give them our best because we love them. And ultimately, Father, those are the gifts that you have given us to do life with. So we have to steward them well. By showing your love.

00:05:54.762 --> 00:06:09.649
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen. So there you have it. Your five minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend.
