You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1158. Today's Devo is called My Soul Glorifies. Hey there. We're the Alesses, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:22.321 --> 00:01:02.243
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning everybody and happy Wednesday. I hope that whether you're on your way to work, on your way to dropping your kids off at school, on your way to doing whatever you are doing, I hope that you are truly blessed by this podcast and I also hope you're blessed by good weather. I know where we live in South Florida, we've been having some amazing weather. So I hope that you are dealing with the same and not bad weather. Just had that thought. We are talking about the birth of Jesus. This week. I will be your host, Lauren Alessi.
00:01:02.418 --> 00:01:41.799
And talking about this subject, it's really kind of amazing how when you really dissect it, the revelation that comes out of it, we know it's a deep word. Everything in the Bible, when you really dissect it, has a deep revelation. But the story of a baby coming to earth through a virgin, spoken to by an angel who's going to be the savior of the world, it's really a crazy story. It would be the most epic TV series ever. But really dissecting it and taking your own revelation from it is really, really powerful. So I hope you've been blessed by it. I hope you've been following along. Let's dive into the word. Today we're going to be reading again out of Luke
00:01:41.846 --> 00:01:45.430
46 through 56.
00:01:45.582 --> 00:01:59.685
And if you actually have your Bible in front of you, you will see that the past three days we've just been reading Luke 30 through 56. So it's actually just you could read it all in one sweep. It's on pretty much the same page.
00:02:00.064 --> 00:03:12.931
And I like to read out of the ESV version. I'm going to read Mary's Song of praise today and to sort of reflect back on yesterday's podcast and the day before, we were talking about how Mary had all these questions and now Mary is singing a song of praise, which is really cool. Let's read it. And Mary said, my soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on, all generations will call me blessed. For he who is mighty has done great things for me. And holy is his name. And his mercy is for those who fear him. From generation to generation, he has shown strength with his arm. He has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts. He has brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of the humble estate. He has filled the hungry with good things and the rich he has sent away empty. He has helped his servant Israel in remembrance of his mercy. And he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his offspring forever. And Mary remained with her about three months and returned to her home. She's of course talking about Elizabeth.
00:03:13.122 --> 00:04:11.300
But in the beginning, she says, my soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God, my Savior. How beautiful that Mary's looking at this mountain that she's about to climb, this obstacle that she's about to face. And she knows it's not gonna be easy. She knows she has to go tell Joseph, her fiance or her husband at this moment that she's a virgin. But she's pregnant with the Savior of the world. And she decides to take a moment to say, you know what, God, thank you for choosing me. Thank you that this is not going to be easy. And here she says, I've got to find this verse. For he who is mighty has done great things to me and holy is his name, and his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation. Like she. She decides to just take a second and say, God, you could have chosen anybody, but you chose me. I gotta say, that's mind boggling for me. I just, I feel so humbled reading this verse. I feel like we skip over this a lot when we read the story of the birth of Jesus. I feel challenged by it today.
00:04:11.492 --> 00:04:25.644
And my prayer is that we can all feel a little bit challenged by it today. That in the Christmas season and just in life, when we're faced with obstacles and challenges, it's okay to have the hows and the why questions. Why me, God? Why do I have to go through this?
00:04:25.764 --> 00:05:06.432
How is this going to work out? How am I going to overcome this? But maybe when we take a second to say, you know what, God, thank you for choosing me, this isn't going to be easy, but Lord, I get to glorify you and I get to show off your glory and your healing power and how cool you are. So, God, thank you for choosing me. Let's pray, dear God, I thank you for how your word, Lord, can be as sharp as an iron blade, God, and it can challenge its reader, God, even during the Christmas time, God. And Lord, I just pray that everyone listening today, God, even on a Wednesday, Lord, can be challenged by this episode, including me, including the person leading this podcast.
00:05:06.488 --> 00:05:33.435
So Lord, let us end today's podcast like this, Lord, thank you for choosing us, Lord. Even though it's not easy during the holidays, during life sometimes to face obstacles because we're asking how, what, when, where, why all these questions, Lord. But thank you for choosing us, God, because we know you're going to show off in our lives, God, and we know you're going to do something amazing because it's all to bring glory to your name in the end. So we thank you for that. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
00:05:34.375 --> 00:05:37.918
So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven.
